Memories!
Bringing back some hilarious memories from the time when Delta was having all kinds of problems and was the butt of more jokes.
I recall when they had the incidents with landings at the wrong airport and the slogan at the time was "Delta gets you there". That one had to be changed...
Southwest is not pft
Southwest is NOT pft. What about a person who flies a 737 in the military and gets hired because he was able to transfer the type rating??? He didn't buy anything and won't have to buy anything to attend Southwest's new hire class. What about those BBJ's? Some bizjet...
Driving is Better
I CANNOT believe that Gulfscab is still in business charging $500 for the flight to Nassau AND charging the FO for flight time!!
I'm going to the Keys in November. I'll be landing in FLL off of a major airline flight and then DRIVING the rest of the way. Yes, DRIVING!! I"d...
Passenger pleased with good service
It's the passengers like me who keep the airlines going.
I do have something positive to say--I took Delta Air Lines today and experienced excellent service. A customer rep showed us how to use the computer system to check in so we would not have to wait...
Vavso and religious wife
Frankly, I can see where Vavso is coming from. I have a relative who is a religous fanatic and this person is very difficult to deal with. She is always trying to re-convert my uncle, a happy Protestant back to Catholicism, which I think is wrong. Leave him alone...
One very expensive flight school!!
I could not fathom borrowing $80,000 to attend a flight school! That sounds awfully expensive and with the industry being in so much difficulty these days a real gamble. The return on investment particularly if one looks at regional airline salaries for...
Well said, Guitarflyer!!
Amen, Guitarflyer. Those CEOs would not be willing to take a pay cut, ooooohhhhh, noooo! One could buy several aircraft with the pay of some of the CEOs and vice presidents at the majors!!
There are other, non-labor expenses that could be eliminated. One example...
Willi7, you said it right!!!
So true!!!!! Bushboy Sr. did not finish the Gulf War and now we have to deal with Saddam again. Your post was the best one of all of them on this thread.
It saddens me that a first year, regional airline pilot makes less than a first year electrical apprentice. Should be at least the same (27K!) or more!! It's wrong when a regional pilot has passengers' lives at stake and they make so little.
Queeg Chief Pilots
What's even worse is a Capt. Queeg Chief Pilot who takes delight in firing people for frivolous reasons.
I remember someone who was a civil engineer who had alot of flight experience as well being unceremoniously dumped at a regional airline for no other reason than not...
CEO
Herb Kelleher sums it all up as the perfect example of an excellent airline CEO. He is a leader who is funny, true, but he also EARNED the workers' respect.
Eventually I will have my own company, and I will be looking to Herb Kelleher as a role model for leadership.
FINALLY!!
This liberal who FAVORS arming the pilots is glad that finally our weakling president has the guts to at least think about having that crucial last line of defense.....
I did fail my pvt and my initial cfi. I recall learning that COEX would not hire me at the time I was interviewing with them even though those check rides were more than TEN years prior to the interview. I was appalled. There should be a statute of limitations not allowing rejection of a...
Last line of defense
As much as I support reasonable gun-control measures, I do feel that there is a need for a last line of defense in the cockpit should some terrorists penetrate the cockpit. It could save lives. I gave this issue alot of thought and was initially against arming pilots but...
Arming flight crews
I have thought of this issue and do feel that the last resort measure of the gun should be available to the flight crew. I'd rather risk the life of one passenger than many by being shot down by an F16.
As a liberal I am thrilled to see Sen. Boxer standing up and saying...
Sen. Boxer has also been a vocal critic of the FAA when they did not get the job done the way it was supposed to.
She's a tough as nails, get the job done type, and woe be to any terrorist who tries anything funny on a flight on which she is aboard.
I do not recall instances of discrimination against Christians in public schools in my local area. On the weekends, there are CCD (Confraternity of Catholic Doctrine) classes held in the public school building. The church rents the class room space at a certain time slot. Hardly any...
