    Delta cancels flight mid-air...

Not really, but it was a funny faux article in The Onion... http://www.theonion.com/content/node/42594 Curious to see how many emails they get letting them know that their 737 looks a lot like an MD-80

    Come Join Us!

It says "a message board for professional pilots" ... that would seem to exclude all of us who don't get paid to fly (PFT'ers included perhaps)

New "tool" for the box ...

I know how much you guys enjoy these stories, so I thought I'd share with you what I saw today. I was returning from a solo flight when I walked into the FBO and saw a guy wearing a pilot's uniform (shirt, pants, tie, epaulettes). He seemed a bit strange because he was young (early 20s) and...

Glass cockpit: Does it require endorsement?

While on the ramp the other day, I was checking out my FBOs new Garmin equipped 182. I asked my instructor if she had flown it yet, and she said she couldn't because she needed 10-hours of glass cockpit instruction before she could. I'm not sure if this is the FBOs requirement, or what, but...

    Question for Pilots...

First bort, right handed ... afraid of heights, but not much ... I think it's the forward motion that takes your mind off of the falling part. I get a little uneasy hovering in a helicopter, or when performing stalls, I guess because you lose some of the forward motion, and you're just hanging...

    Garmin equipped GA aircraft

I'm wondering what people think of the new line of glass cockpit GA planes. I've had a chance to see one of the new 182s, and got to play around with the computers on a training display at my FBO. It seems to me that some of the engine read-outs are a bit small, such as the tachometer. Plus I...

    AOPA Expo - Tampa

Haha, man I can't remember the last wedding I went to where the bride and groom didn't come out to the Buckeye fight song. I was there for grad school, so most of my allegiances rest with my undergrad school (Texas Tech) but the Ohio State traditions are pretty cool.

    AOPA Expo - Tampa

Good to know, I'm going to dust off my old Ohio State ID to get in.

Annual Inspection, Lots Of $$ This year! Mag's Oh My!!!

To change things up a bit, I'm curious about your experience as the owner of a 150. I'm thinking about buying one myself down the road. Have you calculated your costs - how do they compare to renting, even with the inspection charges? Would you say you're happy having your own aircraft...

    Emergency landing turns Stupid

Can't be true ... how do you explain all of the dumba$$ drivers in and around Sanford?

    Some interesting photos

Those were pretty awesome - thanks!

    Freedom isn't Free

My thoughts exactly ... anytime you start a thread by stating "__________ is the greatest _________ ever" you're looking for a fight. Who the hell really cares?!

    Freedom isn't Free

Did anyone actually read cynic's post? I don't think he said anything about the folks who have served our country - he just questioned whether or not that generation was truly the greatest. Geez, you guys get your panties in a wad so easily. Hate to see what would happen if we did have to...

    Freakin' Wilma

Many thanks to those of you who offered places to crash ... My hotel reservations were for Friday-Sunday nights, but since she's slowed down, there's no telling when she'll get here. I cancelled my room, ate the cancellation fee, and decided to ride it out for awhile here in St. Pete. If it...

    Freakin' Wilma

I wasn't here for the hurricanes last year ... we live in the lowest elevated part of St. Pete/Tampa, so I really just wanted to get my car to higher ground. Hopefully it will move south, though. I'm thinking the dang thing is just going to sit outside the Yucatan forever.

    Freakin' Wilma

Anyone being displaced by this one? I'm in St. Pete and my woman and I are heading to Orlando for the weekend to get to higher ground. It'll probably run south of us, but doesn't hurt to be safe. Sucks, though - I originally got our hotel for Saturday and Sunday night. Then weather.com...

    Ace's Pilot Shop

Anyone else had any problem's with this place (www.acespilotshop.com)? I ordered two sectionals and a A&FD 12 days ago from them and haven't gotten them yet. Everytime I try to call I get "call back during office hours or leave a message" even though it is during their hours, and they don't...

    Aeronautical Pet Peeves

I'm ponying up to my ignorance here, but what is the proper call when switching controllers ... I'm one of the people who's been saying "Tampa approach, Cessna 1234X with you at 3000" Until this thread, I never knew I was in the wrong. Do I just cut out the "with you"?

    jetblue skit on SNL

The only reason I stayed up to watch that episode was because Steve Carell was on it, and he didn't really have that funny of parts. I was a bit dissapointed about that, but the JetBlue skit was funny (and the Anderson Cooper skit too, I agree, the Geraldo part was awesome).
