I heard about a dude at Airnet this last summer was watching his inner eyelids a little too long. He finally decided he'd seen enough and opened em. Only to find out he'd overflown his destination by several miles. Ouch. It's a funny picture when you think about him snoozin away, cruisin' right...
ALPA or not?
I may choose a side here if and when I fly for Mr. Fatfingers and the Airlines, but until then I am just an observer trying to soak up all the little tid bits of information and the pro's and con's of being union or non.
One thing I do observe, on this board and in person, is...
I very highly recommend, The Don Sheldon Story: Wager With The Wind, by James Greiner. Don Sheldon is unbelievable, the things that guy can do with an airplane, wow. Pick it up you won't be dissapointed.
Pilot report from a Caravan driver after getting his behind kicked around in a storm just south of OMA tonight.
Approach: Caravan *** did you want to issue a pilot report?
Pilot: (almost a yell) Yeah, STAY THE HELL OUTTA THERE!!
I agree completely. I can't even fathom how any fellow American pilot can agree with such nonsense. The lovely thing about GA in the USA is the freedome to fly whatever machine we want to, whenever and wherever we'd like. (Within the conservative guidelines already established of course) This...
Do whatever you'r little heart desires. I've been skateboarding, snowboarding and biking (bmx and downhill mt.) since I can remember and still do every day. I really want to move to the water and learn to surf but I havent had the chance.
The only thing that concerns me a little with my extra...
"don't know who you're ranting at/about, but no syllabus I've seen discusses opening the doors, landing without the airspeed indicator, simulating flight with jammed controls. Done in the right situation, they all seem like reasonable & useful demonstrations."
"Where in any flight training...
Instructors aren't there to "weed out retards"or cause a simple minded student enough confusion to have nightmares of killing himself and his beloved mentor.
I've had some pretty horrible students in the past and I've been almost certain that some were more than just a little mentally...
Wait one second here. Are you saying that once you've past 60 deg. you have no controle? That can't be right. There has been many a pilot who've been knocked upside down by turbulence weather it be wake, t-bangers, or CAT where the safest and best recovery option was to continue the roll all the...
For certain look at the Navajo and Chieftan. Best cabin class piston twin in my opinion. You can't argue with the hauling ability (weight and space) of the PA-31. The airplane is very pilot friendly and also a great intsrument and weather flying machine.
Hey Hyper, great book huh? I've read it several times now and still pick it up every once and a while to hit a chapter or two. It's actually in my flight bag right now. That whole book is a good quote.
Oh yeah. Bob's BBQ rocks and there is one in Norman now. It's connected to some hotel if I remember right. Maybe the Ramada? And for a place to celebrate downtown OKC is alwalys fun on Fri. Sat.
I remember trying to go visit my "friends" and the FAA headquarters? THey wouldn't let me close to...
Study every night and get the writtens out of the way. Don't let your instructor blow you off or postpone flights. If you don't get along with your instructor, get a new one. Just study hard, get the stuff done, and fly as often as possible. Remember what your paying and make sure to get your...
...those looks you get. Wearing cargo shorts, sandels, and a t-shirt. They're all sitting around waiting for the weather to pass as your just about to turn and burn. Not saying I'm a lifer but it's sometimes nice to know that the boxes don't give a **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**e
Are we talking about a real world job here or just aimless fun? I guess you could have both huh.
Mine would be flying Super Cub's and C-185's up on the glaciers in AK.
Anyone ever read Wager With the Wind, the Don Sheldon story? Thats the book that sold me. He's been my hero since I was 12.
