Another perpective on this...
Count me in as one of the latest 253 furloughees. It's good to have some UAL guys on the board weighing in, as a lot of us that were hacked can't get any more "inside" info.
Here's my take on this, from a guy who has a lot of time on his hands. Last night I...
And another thing....
I forgot to mention one other item I feel may be a big reason into why he is not paying you- EGO.
I bet this guy has a pretty big Ego....If he started paying you he's afraid of this one item: It would appear to others that he's paying for the services of a more...
The way I see it is this guy is taking advantage of you BIGTIME. He's getting something(your help) for nothing(no money paid).
It sounds as though he's a successful executive-type of some sort. I bet he knows how much it would cost to fly with an instructor from the local F.B.O.(20-30...
Bottom line is this, 10 years from now there will be a whole lot more regional flying expansion in this country than major flying expansion. The high paying major airline job will slowly fade away because pilots "whore" themselves out just to get the flying. I won't even try to sugarcoat it...
Beech,
I am calling any pilot a whore that would go work for Freedom AT THE EXPENSE of a Mesa pilot's job. I'm talking about someone not on the Mesa list at all. Kind of like a fleet-qualified scab that United brought in to fly in 1985, willing to do the flying at a lower rate at the expense...
...and plans to start another carrier? Classic management whipsaw action........
I hope the Mesa pilot's stand their ground and don't settle for **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**tty wages. Can't you guys read between the lines here? Do any of you on this board think Mesa pays...
E-mail from Alpa today
As a result of United's sale last month of 24 Boeing 727-200s to Pan American Airways, MEC Chairman Paul Whiteford reports that Pan Am's President David Fink has agreed to give preferential hiring consideration to United pilots that have been furloughed. Any furloughed...

Army Plane Crash in Arizona Kills One
Mar. 15, 2002 16:48
PHOENIX - An Army aircraft flown by the service's Golden Knights parachute team crashed after a mid-air collision with a small civilian plane in the skies over Arizona on Friday, killing one...
Whining???
What the helll are you talking about, EMB??? I'm furloughed and don't have a flying job. To be honest I couldn't care less either, because I know I'll get called back to UAL someday. I've gotten to where I want to be. Have you?? For now I'll do other things. I'm actually...
Furloughed Gal......
I do not follow your logic.
I was specifically asked if I knew of any FURLOUGHED MINORITIES that were in my situation. So this would prove that they were ready to hire a furloughed minority. Otherwise, why would they ask me this??
Here is your quote:
Hey UAL...
I've told this story to a few of my friends but have refrained from posting it here. But it's been a while ago so I'll tell it to the board.
This really happened to me but I guess I am not too surprised.
Here's something that really ticked me off. A few months ago a female recruiter from...
I have a few friends that have told me that many small corporate and charter operators won't make you sign a letter. Seems like most of the guys I know on furlough get these jobs though connections. If I were you I would just hit a few local airports in your town and spread out your resume.
I...
Thanks guys. I feared the resignation of seniority thing might be there. I worked hard to make it to UAL and am not willing to give up my seniority with them. I am sure these are great companies and I can understand why they make you do this. It just sucks for a furloughed dude.
I'm hopeful...
Sorry, yep it's Flight Options
Sorry, shows you how much I know about Fractionals......yes, you are correct, the Cleveland firm is Flight Options. So anyone reading this thread, scratch out Flexjet, insert Flight Options!!
Just wanting the basic info stated above and any of your observations...
Fellas, wondering if anyone with some intel on these firms could help me out. Through blind luck and some connections, I just may have a shot at going to one of these companies. Wishful thinking, I know, but maybe.
I really don't know a whole lot about either of them. Just know they are 2...
part 4
After the tragedy, Goodwin eliminated 20,000 jobs, but a
cruel twist of businesses with high fixed capital, like
aviation, is that cutbacks often worsen the problem. Though
United saved 23 percent in expenses, it lost a whopping 39
percent in revenue. One reason is that union rules...
