F9 denies JS to SWA Pilot

Just heard from our Dom Rep that there has been several problems with F9 Capt's not letting SWA pilots have the JS. Guess there are some F9 Capt's that are making a statement here. It's always nice to see the senior guys looking out for everyone else! Our Dom Rep is on his way to Den today...

    "Frontier guys" Don't get Greedy!

Give it up ATA....stop trying to poison the well for the F9 guys. No comparison between what F9 has done. ATA failed because of poor management, expensive leases and very limited customer loyality in conjunction to a declining charter business.

    "Frontier guys" Don't get Greedy!

ATA and the possible F9 deal have very little in common. SW didn't attempt to acquire the employees or the aircraft (which had very expensive leases). This is totally different. If a deal is cut the F9 employees with part of each employee group (seniority list). SW only wanted the gates that...

    "Frontier guys" Don't get Greedy!

The F9 guys and gals need to look at this from the SWA pilot's point of view (not saying you have to agree). For us at SWA adding 700 pilots to the seniority list does nothing for us unless it's a staple job. Otherwise, we would prefer to tell Gary to grow his own and move on. F9 has a good...

    "Frontier guys" Don't get Greedy!

Anyone that tries to draw a comparison between ATA is TOTALLY clueless!!!! Any aircraft owned by SWA will be flown by SWAPA pilots. It's in the contract and the pilots at SW are not going along with anything short of that!!! We will not allow GARY to operate two (or more) companies like that.

    McCaskill-Bond Seniority Integration Legislation

Any aircraft that SWA owns or buys must be operated by SWAPA pilots. This is very simple. If the two unions cannot settle all issues upfront then Gary will not do it.

    McCaskill-Bond Seniority Integration Legislation

This has nothing to do with ATA and is totally different. SWA did not bid to acquire ATA. Yes I know they purchased the company to get the gates at LGA but that was only after ATA was 100% OUT OF BUSINESS! SWA never tried to acquire aircraft or employee groups at ATA.

    "Frontier guys" Don't get Greedy!

The lessons from the USAIR/America West deal have been loud and clear to all airline CEO's. This deal was the reason Gary tried so hard to get a pilot contract with the new code share language. The fact that we do not have a contract gives us even more leverage in this situation and I don't...

    Airline pilot communications

We are unhappy......with the poor ATC control that goes on, slow down, speed up.....turn left for spacing.....the FAA (my opinion) does everything they can to slow things down....until the get their funding they have zero interest in making the system work better. In the Gov you can't get more...

    New FAA rules....tidbits

Actually I don't think this will impact the SWA pilots very much. Our duty day is already limited to 13 hours scheduled so no big changes. Where we will take a hit is they will need more reserves. The biggest hit to SWA will be our FA's who like to fly as much as possible in a 6 day period...

    New FAA rules....tidbits

Not what he said Commutting was my first question to him. He flatly said it was discussed but they know there is absolutely no way to control or monitor it. He said no rules on commuting.

    New FAA rules....tidbits

I think it is going to happen. He said ATA is represented in the meeting and although they have tried to do somethings they themselves have been told my members of congress that things are going to change because "we don't want anymore tired pilots flying airplanes". The flavor of the...

    New FAA rules....tidbits

I had a long conversation with a member that is helping write the new FAA rules for duty, flying time etc. He said that what they are drafting is going to happen and very quickly. He said they have already heard from large numbers in Congress who are very unhappy about the Cologan accident...

    AirTran slowdown?

I was behind a Air Tran 737 this afternoon in Vegas........really was going slow......Good for you guys and gals (and all the other pilots trying to get management to pay us a realistic wage)

Looks like I was right about the failed SWA TA

Gary's letter is a sign of weakness. The company saves lots of money by not having to pay the 401K match and profit sharing (for the past 2+ years). For some reason Gary needs the contract signed, sealed and delievered). My guess is the company has some major things it wants to do such as...

    AirTran slowdown?

Now that is funny....a AA pilot telling anyone to taxi faster . Last time I checked AA aircraft only move a few feet every hour.

    SWAPA NC resigns

Polling flawed They only contacted people via phone. Alot of people don't give the company and union their home phone. I have only given them my cel and I turn it off when I am home. I have flown with alot of people that say they, like me, were never polled. Either way it's clear they...

    SWAPA NC resigns

I just read that the union is going to "survey our entire pilot group". My question all along was why didn't we do that to start with. How in the world did the union ever expect the NC to operate without a complete survey of all the pilots. No wonder they were out of touch.
