Jeppesen
Since there is at least a chance that this could be the future of our profession, is there anyone here who has experience working for Jeppesen or knows someone who does? It would be interesting to get a sense of how they threat their people, especially pay scales (since this is a...
Great...so now we can all be contracted out in the name of "enhancing safety". Not sure about the math on that one, but I'm sure some lobbyist can make it all look legit. Just like raisning the pilot retirement age to 65....drip, drip, drip, and one day it's law. I lost a lot of money on that...
Having never worked a job where we had a union, I can't comment either way on that. It does seem to me that in these days of rising fuel costs and the public's expectation of low fares, that the unions have very little leverage in the effort to improve wages.
But back to the original issue...
My "informants" at Airways are about as frustrated as we all are. They are still working like crazy and would like to get some help, but it seems that somewhere up the food chain someone wants to wait as long as possible before hiring anyone. The June 27 class is supposedly still a possibility...
They are currently hoping for a class around June 27th. They are very short of instructors right now, and are trying to get through the recurrents while they get organized for an initial class. I guess HR has been waiting (or busy with other hiring) while they prepare and should hopefully be...
Yeah, here we go again....trying to get hired with oil prices rising, the Middle East in turmoil, the economy uncertain....then Doug Parker sounds off again with merger rumors. Whatever. If they hire me I'm going, because this time around I have nothing really to lose; and if it works it would...
I was told that HR would be making phone calls to the top 25-30 candidates to set up interviews by today. Nothing so far, from myself or anyone else I know who applied. I guess HR works in mysterious ways....
Totally agree. I read awhile back (during the last Wikileaks debacle) that some of the diplomatic communications revealed the Saudis almost pleading, or demanding, that the U.S. do something about Iran. With all of the billions on arms we've sold these countries, why don't they use some of that...
Approximate starting pay that I was told is about $48K, although I haven't seen that in print. I assume there are shift differentials, holiday pay, OT, and all of that as well.
My latest info is that they should soon be scheduling interviews; they got about 160 applicants total, and will likely interview about 1/3 of them. There is also some speculation that, as they hope to wrap up contract negotiations soon, they may wait until that is concluded to see how many new...
I've spoken to several people since submitting my app, and now that the application window has closed, those they choose for interviews could be hearing something this month. The timeframe I'd heard was for interviews in April, with a possible class in May. One of the dispatch instructors...
That's the "Russian Roulette" nature of the airline career search...always has been since I started in the mid-80s. Boom and bust...try to get hired at the start of a hiring wave, so that hopefully you've got enough "furlough fodder" under you when the inevitable downturn hits. But back then it...
For those asking, AAR is a government contractor providing airlift services in support of US military operations. The name on the operating certificate is Presidential Airways, which was the former air division of Blackwater; they purchased that division from Blackwater, but have no affiliation...
For those of you looking for something different, AAR Airlift/Presidential Airways is looking for Flight Operations Coordinators (Dispatch license required). The pay is pretty amazing, as long as you don't mind going outside the US to some places that you hear about in the news every day.....
Latest intel I have is interviews in April, class in May (tentatively). Yeah,
non-revving out of PIT would be pretty much a non-issue; ever since they closed the crew base, I've heard that practically every flight in or out of PIT to PHL/DCA/CLT has 20-30 employees trying to get to and from...
