I have flown through them twice because the idiot seating in the left didn't know how to use the weather radar. Once in it, what did he do?? Started turning right away. I didn't know if I punched him or took control of the plane. Lots of ice, severe turbulence etc. Not a pretty picture.
I checked with some people who seem to know the regs really good and they said you have to be a citizen, either born or naturalized, to be able to fly in Brazil.
Since this is Brazil, I guess if you know the right people, you could probably pay your way around the red tape but if you follow the...
I think you would be able to but I'll check on that. We have a few Mercosul guys working for us and one of them I am sure is not a Brazilian citizen.
Alot of people have been asking me this question so I'll check the regs and I'll get back to you guys.
Yes I would say so. Not too long ago people were getting hired with less than 500 hours. Once the hiring starts again you shouldn't have a problem provided all of the paper work is in order.
You guys should come and teach CRM in my company. Unfortunately I can count in one hand the good captains I have flown with the past 3 years. Most have no CRM or knowledge to be in the left seat and yet they treat us like $hit It goes with the culture of the country also. This is my first flying...
I wish it was like that everywhere. At my company it is a gear up and shut up policy and no CRM at all. Safety goes way down but I guess they don't care. I wonder why we are averaging one major accident per year....
You can get it in one of the Brazilian Consulates in the US. If you don't live near one, you can mail your stuff to the nearest one. It takes a few days and they might even rush it if you show them you're a pilot. I think the fee is a little over 100 USD.
How is life nowdays for a Cathay Pacific F/O? Are most people happy or unhappy?
I am thinking about applying in the near future and would like to get some info.
Thanks in advance.

I read it in a local newspaper and they were talking about Sao Paulo, not the whole country so take it for what it´s worth but if you stop and look around, it´s pretty convincing..........
Brazil has a woman to man ratio of 16 to 1. In aviation we have FAs 19 years old and up, most being in their early 20s. Women of all shapes, sizes, color etc. You can take your pick. Most are very good looking.
Hiring foreigners would change the way people think here. My airlines is more like a...
Both. TAM is the first and last company I will fly for in Brazil. I am sure the others are the same. VARIG used to be different but still a long way from being a serious flag carrier. They are all a flight school, get your time and move on.
It's funny you mentioned the radar. People here don't...
For those of you "commuting" back to the States, how much is the average airfare for a round trip ticket? I know it depends on your destination but I just want some numbers to have an idea.
Thanks in advance
Besides the hot flight attendants, I don't see why people would want to work here. It's just not a good place to work.
I wish we would hire foreigners, it would make the place alot better.
