Anyone know the inside story on ARINC in Annapolis, MD? They posted 4 openings for Flight Coordinators a month or two ago; after submitting my app through the website, they sent me a list of questions to be answered. Then, nothing. They posted again for 1 opening, then again for 3. Are they...
I've been a pretty avid collector of aviation books over the last 20-25 years (not as intense as some, but I still have a decent collection). I actually don't think I've ever come across a first-hand account of the German bomber pilot experience in that era. Lots of stuff from fighter pilots...
Starting pay in 2012 at US was a base of about $36K (plus change....don't have the exact numbers in front of me), but after finishing training and passing the comp check, it bumps up to $39ish. Adding in holidays and some OT, you can make $40-$45K first year. Second year base is $52K, Year 3 is...
Amen to that.
I've had similar experiences on a number of occasions. A relative at the family gatherings who had flown B-24s over Ploesti, and been shot down and injured and protected by the underground to get him back to his unit; the group of guys who rented rooms in the same house at Oshkosh...
There will definitely be some attrition, as the age demographics of both work groups are skewed toward retirement age. US is looking for possibly 10 Dispatchers right now, and the openings are posted on the website. I would post the link but I am using a borrowed laptop and can't figure out the...
Most people's money is on Dallas as the location of the merged OCC. There are those who put forth arguments about how there is more space in PIT than in the DFW facility, and those who say it could be PHX or CLT for various reasons, but that could be as much wishful thinking as anything based in...
One of the best
For those of you more recent users of Flightinfo, this thread was started several years ago by a guy who had had not only an amazing and diverse flying career, but an absolutely unique gift at putting his experiences into words....and one of the best pen names ever...
FedEx jumpseat
I am a dispatcher looking at possibly jumpseating on FedEx this summer. What is the dress code and the procedure to get on? Is there a number to call to list in advance, or do you just show up? Thanks!
I was told that the AA dispatchers are TWU, same as the AA mechanics, so I guess it's a package deal. Word in the PIT OCC at the moment is that everyone expects to be consolidated in Dallas if the deal goes through, which is also the belief of the AA dispatch contacts that we have. Sucks for...
Just got mine! I've heard that they finally got Finance to allow them to hire the 4 they have needed for a while, plus they are trying to get 4 more due to attrition known to be coming soon. There is also a rumor that they may be getting the 10 E-190s back from Republic, and that would require...
So, did anyone hear from HR on returning for phase II? They'd told they were planning an August class, but I recently heard that could slip to possibly October. That's a long way from February when the openings were posted....
My friends there said the schedule is 4 PMs, 2 off, 4 AMs, 4 off. New hires can expect to work a relief line, in which case you will work all over the office and have liitle structure to your schedule until you can bid a real line.
