Take this with a ton of salt, since I heard it mid-Pacific on the air-to-air freq., but someone on a business jet with an internet connection said he just read that the AA board decided to not accept US's merger plan, and wanted to emerge from bankruptcy as a stand-alone company. Anyone else...
A few days ago, while mid-Pacific, one of the UAL guys came on the air-to-air frequency, and went into a long rant about the progress of negotiations on a combined contract with CAL. I don't know about the details of what you are all looking for, and I fully support your right to get the best...
Remember that 'missile trail' seen off the California coast last week? Turns out it was probably a USAirways 757 going from Hawaii to Phoenix:

It looks like we passed the TA with a roughly 83% yes vote. Signing (and our initial raise) should happen within a few days.
For those who may have heard (and are waiting in the pool), there was another vacancy bid out yesterday, but no new positions. This one just adjusted a few spots and...
After nearly 3 years of negotiations, a TA is in hand. I'll be interested to see what it contains!

What happened here? Someone was so excited at the thought of getting real jets that a little thing like safety training was bypassed?

Now that the dust has settled on the age 65 rule, how about some calm, reality based discussion instead of the overinflated ranting so many here are guilty of?
The rule has passed, and recalling Prater, or trying to vote ALPA off the property, or screaming "The world is ending!" won't...
It looks like more growth, and a new aircraft type. 12 firm - 6 330's and 6 350's, and the same number of options. Deliveries start in 2012. It's also likely we will be leasing some more 330's, as soon as 2009...
A question for any of you AS folks out there; I heard from a source today that AS may be in trouble with their imminent Hawaii flying. The word is that your management had been betting on getting an exemption from the ETOPS rules to allow you to fly overwater with only domestic fuel reserves...
I am not trying to start a flame thread, but merely looking for some factual information. A friend was jumseating on Go! last week and saw a cockpit loaded with 'inop' stickers. He asked the crew where their maintenance was done and they just laughed.
Our own FAA personel each say something...
Has there been any ruling on how the lists are to be integrated? Any word on what happens to the formerly furloughed Polar pilots that are back but with no flying to do?

This is just a general thank you to the people at UND Aerospace for their hospitality. I attended an ALPA accident investigation training class there this last week and we were treated like royalty by everyone at UND; students, staff and faculty. It is an amazing facility you have up there in...
A memo came out from crew planning today detailing the upcoming vacancy bid. It will be opened on November 3rd, and closes December 4th. There will be a total of 17(!) recalls making a total of 43 this year out of a total of 98 furloughees. Activation date is June 1st 2007. The calls to...

It's their second crash this year, the first being a Seneca in Burlington WA that killed airshow pilot Anthony Beard.

I tried a google search but couldn't come up with anything on this. Coming across Indiana last night on the way to PHL I heard another plane with what I am pretty sure was the callsign "Golden Gate". Anyone know who that is?
My first thought was Branson's new 'Virgin America' based in SFO, but...
In an effort to keep the previous HA thread from becoming bigger than the Titanic, I'm starting this new one.
And it's also because I'm sitting in a warm glow of satisfaction after reading this article:

After more than two years and $24M in expenses, this idiotic bankruptcy is coming to a close.

This morning the union is reporting that the TA was approved by a 189 to 69 vote. Management has said that if the TA passed, they should be out of Ch. 11 by the end of May.

The pilots at Hawaiian rejected the Tenative Agreement with management. Next up is a probable section 1113 hearing on the 29th where the court may (or may not) impose a new contract on the pilots. If a contract is not imposed by the court HA will not exit bankruptcy on April 1st as planned, and...
Hi all,
After reading a few posts lately asking about converting total time to night, or trying to resurrect incomplete logbooks I wanted to put my two cents in.
I know that to some it's a pain (unless you're kind of anal about such things like I am), and I certainly don't want to belittle...
