News should be out within the next two weeks. Looks like PSA/PDT will be merging. Also, US Airways/Alaska merger may be announced. If so, expect to hear news about a Horizon/Piedmont merger.

Something is finally about to happen. This should become very interesting, very soon.

Source? I know for a fact that PDT is taking over the PSA ground stations, but that's the extent of it as far as we know.

"Interesting" is an understatement. A merged seniority list already exists between these two. It will be interesting if the rumor is true...if PSA new MECC will tolerate their (PSA) low relative combined seniority or demand a new method of integration. :erm:

Oh man I can't wait to start spreading this rumor around...I haven't heard of one this funny since we were supposed to get 400's...

Oh and by the way, word around PDT is that we're going to purchase Mesa by the end of next year and suddenly they will become OUR biatches...

Ok so let me get this right. Now even more stations around the system will provide us poor service and this means merger????

What? This means pay raises for all former PSA Ground Stations that become PDT employees! Their years of service will carry over with them to PDT.
As for PDT providing poor service, can you elaborate!

I haven't heard anything about PDT taking over the PSA stations, but really who cares? I agree with you Surf, PDT would be a pay raise for the stations. I never had a problem with the PDT stations. The outsourced stations however, are another issue. We won't go there though.

PSA stations becoming PDT stations appears to be factual information. I wouldn't read anything into it though.

Flew some PDT Execs into AGS and that will be a PDT station soon, plus the the PSA station manager will be remain at his post. PVG, EYW, and I believe a few more are going over to PDT.
But like Opec, I don't think it means much! I have seen stations go back and forth a bunch of times.

This info comes directly from Piedmont management. Just be patient and give it until the end of Feb. At the end of Feb, you all can tell me that I was full of sh!t.

Believe me, I have better things to do than make crap up.

He is probably refering to the excellent job that piedmont does at PHL... In all honesty though I doubt anyone else could do much better there, but you would think that it would eventually become more economical to pay these people a little more then pay for all the heavy maintenance due to the rampers hitting airplanes with anything and everything that they can find.

Speaking of PHL I pulled in at a gate before 9/11 back in the day. Waited forever to get parked at the gate, then once we pulled up they started off loading.
Right at the end of off loading I see 3 of the guys working the plane run off in different directions (kinda like the show 'Cops' when they bail from there car after a high spead chase). Being the interested FO I was at the time I asked the guys why they ran off earlier.
Answer, "Yo dude, did you see that cop car drive by with the lights on?....... Me and my boys have outstanding arrest warrents!!!"
I got a big laugh out of that one. Then I was like Jeeezzz!

I concur, it's not the airline that is the problem in philly, it's the personel they hire and probably the pay offered that is the problem, and unless something other than the name changes, the quality of the product will remain.

This isn't the most PC post in the universe, but hey- it's THEIR literature...

Go pick up a brochure at the kiosk between the "food-like substance" court and the shuttle bus. Read it.

Answers are all in there.

When you give highest hiring priority to the most disadvantaged in the pool, you have a management nightmare when it comes to developing employees. Given that fact, they're pulling miracles out of their arses. I see Phil a LOT, taking notes and talking to the ramp employees. They're starting to give a dang- maybe that's why.

It certainly is improving, and I daresay against all odds.

I hear we're going to an all free balloon fleet. Wait until your next CQ- v1 cuts are a breeze!

Of course we'd be the acquiring company and as long as the rest of you 500 piedmont suckers get stapled to the bottom of our list I'm all for it.

Instant upgrade!

Speaking of tools, just wait until you get your first reaming from "The Hammer" You'll never be the same again.
;)

Who the hell is the hammer, and why will he be reaming us? It's just another flight info rumor for now.

Yeah, that'd be excellent, our 30 year captains can sit in the right seat to punk a$$ kids and learn how it's really done.

I have also heard that the merger is soon coming, they want to move the entire WO express operation to Rosedale in MDT........we will all just have to wait and see......and for you poolies, word from the training dept is new hire class in march....

Hey, would that mean a decrease in Dash flying in MDT? How hard is it to get this base for a new hire?
