great, another charter broker with overworked underpaid pilots.

Overworked, possibly. Underpaid, I am not sure how you arrive at that conclusion. Charter broker? That is an interesting spin on the Wheels Up concept. Show me another broker that owns 20 + airplanes and growing. It is not the premier job in the country, but it has put over 100 out of work pilots to work in the last 12 months.

Just read that Richter is currently looking at used/refurbished Citation Sovereigns and Xs as possible additions to the XLs.

last i read(today)....they dont have an air carrier certificate. that means charter broker....

Quote"Wheels Up acts as agent for the Wheels Up members, and is not the operator of the program aircraft; FAA licensed and DOT registered air carriers participating in the program exercise full operational control of the program aircraft. Any aircraft owned or leased by Wheels Up will be dry leased to the operating air carrier to facilitate operations by that carrier."

and yes, they are grossly underpaid. FO's should be starting at $100,00k for what they're charging to operate.

How many jets do they now have? I'm starting to see some XL's running around in the blue And white colors

They are left over aircraft from Citation Shares that Cessna can't sell.

So Flexjet is a charter broker also?? They don't have a air carrier certificate either......

No, Flexjet operates under part 91K fractional mgmt specs. Flex doesn't have a air carrier certificate but their very close friend Jet Solutions (another DAC company) does.

It looks like the WU operation uses multiple operators and their certificates, that makes them more like a broker.

DAC didn't buy JetSolutions, btw. But this is a moot point since Flexjet will have its own certificate or at least will share Flight Options' certificate.

Wrong answer there bud. DAC did buy Jet Solutions. Just finished the transaction. Bets are that Flex and Flops will end up on that cert not the other one. Might include Sentient as well down the road. Hang on fellas it's getting interesting.

Wheels UP CEO said the same thing XoJet's CEO said 5 years ago. "The Model Netjets pioneered is BS, we're gonna do it better and more efficient"

Every 5 years some business guy comes along with a plan on how to improve something and he's gonna show us how it really should be done

And when it doesn't work, they throw in the towel to "spend more time with family"

What is the hourly rate for an excel at wheels up? They show the king air at 3950.

^^true. But XO has the better sched and basing.

Agreed. There's more to QOL than just $$$.

Although, neither XO nor Wheels Up fly the mighty Piaggio, so...

I still miss flying the Piaggio after 4 1/2 years since retirement. :bawling:

I still DON'T miss the weekly airlining and schedule. :p

lol, that reminds me...i used to fly a consistent route from norcal to socal and back in a 350, not long ago. Met a pretty laid back crew at the socal base who randomly flew to the same norcal base, in a piaggio. Turns out they couldnt handle full seats AND all the baggage, so being that we were going to the same spot, i would throw their golf clubs in the 350.

So yea, they got there 10 minutes quicker...but had to wait for me to land with their golf clubs before they could leave the airport...so i dunno if i can concur on the term "mighty" :D

every king air built is 10X better than a p180. King air is just flat out a great airplane.

With the Piaggio, you need to put the heaviest pax in the rear seats and pray for bricks in their (small) bags if all the seats are full. CG runs out of forward limit in a hurry. Still a fun airplane anyway.
