Thinking about going MIA soon and wondering how guys are getting between the FL airports. Not planning on buy a car in FL either. Are there cheap one way rentals, Super Shuttles, Car Service?
Sorta, on many occasions I've done a one way from Jax to MCO, it doesn't show up as "One way drop off" on the bill, but Avis (who is the only one who offers the service), charges $125 dollars plus tax.
I have done it between TPA and MCO, PBI and MCO, SRQ and MCO, DAB and MCO, and FLL and MCO and it's the regular rate.
I use Priceline, or Orbitz to check rates, then go back to individual rental car company's site to get a little better deal.
I don't know if you have any privileges but United uses Silver between TPA-MCO-FLL maybe PBI also!! You can hope on the tri-rail from ether of the last 2 all the way to MIA
In an emergency, put out a request to the JB guys. Every day, several times a day we have pilots driving between the airports (PBI is a co-base with FLL and we have a lot of guys that live as far north as Stuart and as far south as Key Largo that make the daily drive.)
You never know.
Otherwise, Tri-Rail isn't bad. Not fast, but steady. Give yourself a lot of time to catch the bus from FLL to the station, though.
Yea, the Tri-Rail works OK if the schedule actually meets what you need to do. The bus ride from the station in FLL to the airport borders on ridiculous, though.
Many rental car outfits rent one way in FL, with little or no drop off fee. I did MCO to FLL for about $30, but the facility fees/taxes will kill you. You can try "off site" locations to save some $$.
