I cut off paid by the minute types all the time- (or encourage my capt's to... ) what's the problem- we get paid by getting it done- you get paid by the minute - sounds like every pilot wins when we go first

What the problem is?

Would you reduce your own paycheck to hate on old southwestern trailways?

What any of this has to do with delta going off the side in slick conditions I don't know-

SLI? No, I don't work for Airtran or SWA. Simply noting that the rest of us don't pull the kind of stunts that SOME of your pilots do, and that I can't ever recall getting cut off by anyone else.

The reference to pickpocketing had more to do with the fact that every time you cut someone off, they burn more fuel (if only a little) rather than taking their rightful place in line. Oh, it is just a few dollars here and there. Like a pickpocket.

I see you decided that was a reference to the SLI. Too funny. I have no personal knowledge of how the SLI really went down, and therefore no real opinion. I'll try not to trigger you by using any words in the future that might make you think I am talking about the, um uh, "that topic". I care.

Anyway, I'm just glad that most pilots refuse to play chicken during taxi. If butting in line makes some people feel like a winner in life, so be it.

Thank goodness for professional courtesy. A foreign concept to a small handful, who manage to be neither professional, nor courteous.

You first, please. I insist.

How about this then....

I'll just say that you're full of sh1t. Feel better?

You DON'T get "cut off by SWA all the time." Aircraft don't just do whatever they want in disregard of ground control's instructions. Especially when it's "unsafe." At least without getting violated or yelled at.

So go ahead; talk some more stupid smack. You first; I insist.

Bubba

P.S. So I guess if you're not an AirTran or Southwest guy, then you must just be one of those random dumbasses who tries to sneak in a SWA slam in every thread possible, regardless if whether it has jack diddly to do with anything. Good for you.

If I recall, this is the first time I have been critical of SWA.

You seem very sensitive. I'll be more careful in the future to avoid triggering your defensiveness.

Hey Bill, I think you have me confused with someone else. But thanks for pointing out that I'm a hero. Also, thanks for the offer of a hug, but I'm gonna have to pass on that from you... M'kay? :)

I actually agree with you here...EXCEPT:
Why such a BF hurry on the ground only to blast off and fly at .77 or .78?
Merry Christmas!

Because that's what the airplane'll do w/o costing lots of gas.?

Not that I'm not jealous of your 75's and 74's that do .84+ but we fly 73's

We don't tend to rush- but why not be as efficient as possible when we still get a chunk of profit sharing and not getting paid more to piss around on the ground-

So the flip side is your question scoot- if we aren't padding our check why deck around on the taxi?

No argument here. Gotta agree with the above poster. .84 in a 757? No. Maybe .82.
