Well.......a small percentage of the people have all the money and its a bunch. Africa is 53 different nations and over 1 Billion people. And it represents about 20% of the worlds land mass. Additionally there are several nations that have a substantial amount of natural resources like oil, iron, copper, lumber, gold, diamonds, etc...

So even if 1 or 2% controls most if the wealth like in the USA that's still 10 Million+ people.

Why do you think US major airlines have expanded into Africa in recent years?

But in general, Africa is severely under-represented on the world stage economically.

One of the poorest countries in Africa, in dollars earned per year, is Congo. It it's capital, Kinshasa, a nice 4 bedroom, western-style apartment, in one of the nicer areas of the city, starts at $7K/month rent.

A guy in Kinshasa used to have two 707s on 24/7 charter. He was paying $100K/day, cash, USD. The planes didn't fly very much.

Nairobi, overall, is very, very poor. Eating at a decent restaurant with a typical meal will cost at least $50/person.

Cliff,
Usually you can live high on the hog in poor countries. Yours is just the opposite like trying live in Monaco!

Export/Import Bank. Google it...

Exactly. B.O.'s plan the whole time was to give away all our hard earned dollars to "poor" countries for free (because if we are wealthy that means thet have to be poor according to his Muslim logic) all the while our unemployment rate sky rockets and debt mounts to incomprehensible numbers. That and a whole lot of other issues that make my veins boil...but that's for another day.
