No CUN duty free for flight crews?

As of three months ago, no flight crews are allowed to purchase anything
in CUN's duty free. I can speculate, but anyone know the real
deal?

Nope, no duty free in Mexico for crews at all. Rumor is that it was due to something done by an AMR FA.

Most airport Duty-free is just a bad joke now, anyway. The big benefit is not paying sales tax, and the 10% discount for crew, so on a $30. bottle, you save six bucks. . . . Whoopee.

On the last leg home, it might be worth it, but otherwise, lugging that crap along for two or three more days, just to save twelve bucks, well, it ain't worth it.

As for cigars . . . I was comparing duty free prices on Dominican cigars in Punta Cana . . . I can get them for 35% less at home.

Can't buy booze or ciggies. In CUN they wouldn't let me walk to the terminal WITHOUT the hi-viz jacket (I was looking for a certain coffee brand). I politely declined ...

I never understood the allure of paying for duty free and getting a 10% discount on stuff I can buy for 50% off at Costco or Walmart.

you can't buy everything at costco that you can get in duty free.
it's not the taxes, it's the stock.
