Just giving ya a hard time. :)

Not really retrofitting anything, though -- the iPads will be carried by the pilots, and not mounted anywhere (class 1 EFB).

At least that's what they tell us... so far, the only place I've actually seen one is at FlightSafety!

Gotcha...

I was supposing there would be some sort of mount in the cockpit...Guess not... I've seen them mounted with a yoke clip. Kind of a pain but doable....

Are they giving each pilot an IPAD or keeping them in the plane? That would be ALOT of IPADS.... I think I already have an idea of the answer. But ya never know!

Beter yet, an IPAD plus an IPhone to replace the BB.... Then everyone could be in the CLOUD

From what I understand, any kind of mounting to the aircraft (even a yoke mount) adds a whole new level of complexity to the paperwork. Maybe down the road, but for now, they're strictly portable. Although they did ask if I wanted a leg strap with mine whenever it gets delivered. I politely declined.

They're being issued to each pilot vs. each plane. Probably makes sense, particularly if they end up sitting for a few days in harsh conditions. Plus, I can only imagine the nightmare when one went missing...

Wow!! that is alot of IPADS.... At a discount of say $400 per, that's a million bucks just for the purchase. Not counting any subscriptions or extra's....

I know Luthi's side believes the doom and gloom and shrinkage of , but from my POV they have been slowly pouring some serious cash into the re-juvination... Just my opinion of course... My wife just said the furloughees should get an IPAD also.. Save me from buying one....

You are correct though that when the device becomes "part of" the a/c there is a whole other level of certification involved... I am pretty positive NJA could handle it though:beer:

BTW, what's the word on lost/stolen/ broken devices? Same as the BB? (just send a new one?)

No idea... we haven't gotten any official "care and feeding" instructions yet. Hopefully it'll be that simple! Although unlike the Blackberry, these things are actually valuable... :D

Just to clarify, the company is still shrinking.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but we still are not seeing growth.

Now maybe it'd be more accurate to say that NJA doesn't have any plans to close its doors altogether, otherwise why the investment in Ipads (amongst other large expenditures). That statement I could agree with.

Sadly, we have not reversed the trend towards being smaller, although it has slowed quite a bit. Hopefully, 2012 will be the year we turn the corner and start seeing a net positive with aircraft sold.

Outfit an entire fleet of 400 a/c with Apple IPADS...... Plus training and retrofitting

Hate to burst your bubble, but that's exactly what CitationAir did. Sent iPads to every pilot, then within three months issued furlough notices.

And CA1900, we were told that the knee straps were required by the FAA, let me know how you guys got around that cause I hate that thing!

I like the knee board. But we need to get flight helmets and zoom bags to replace the uniform....

Shrinkage? Shen knows about shrinkage, right?

The market shrunk ...therefore ....

But the good news is we made money in that market. We are like APPLE stock was right after the Financial Crisis (when the stock market shrunk) it was $80 a share, now ... in 2009... now $600. Now is the time to buy Netjets stock.

I am with Reality man though ... do not see the growth that would be needed for recalls. New planes will replace the old planes.

[Psychic hat on]
But I see a new CBA with 30% Raises (with COLA) for the Pilots. Position of SIC eliminated ... all go to PIC pay.
[Psychic hat off]

That's because what apple does is is unique and they have zero competition. You are not like apple.

No idea! I guess every POI is a little bit different. Only real restriction is that it has to be stowed for takeoff and landing, which I suppose the knee strap would accomplish. I'd rather just throw it in the pocket, but that's me. :)

That your opinion JJ.

We are just like APPLE. We have similar competition... or have you never heard of ASUS and their TRANSFORMER which is better than the iPad. Never heard of Google and the Android phone? Apple is generally more expensive than its competition. Why do people buy it then? Its one integrated solution. We are a lot like APPLE but no Steve Jobs... we had Santulli.

NJ is a Global executive air transportation system. That IS why we are UNIQUE. One solution. And no mid level executive was ever fired for choosing NJ as its supplement to their own flight department.

As far as the stock ... Apple makes big gains whenever they introduce a new product or update an existing product. In the past NJ has made profits on aircraft sales that offset losses in operations. We now profit on operations with NO new aircraft sales. But like APPLE when it introduces a new iPhone ... NJ will be introducing NEW Airplanes... and will add the profit of Aircraft Sales to the $200 Million profit in operations!

This means raises for pilots!
