Question . . . . what were we doing when the DAL DC9's were being delivered to NWA, back in the mid 1970's?

Check all that apply:

1) Clothespinning baseball cards to the spokes of your bike's wheels
2) trying to brush dryer lint from your velour shirts
3) Spending too much time in your room with the Farrah Facett-Majors poster
4) Caddying for Judge Smaills and Dr. Beeper

5) Being born.

It's a good thing they already retired some of those models that were made in the 60's as well.

Or we could be talking about the Beatles and british envasion. HAHA.

When we had the DC9, I believe we had some 1968 models . . . . Sometimes, during boarding, you would see pax nervously eyeballing the dataplate, which was on the entry door.

1974 = pooping in my diaper for the first time and crying when mass formations of B-52's shook our house on base.

1978 ish - too bad when the first girl I thought was hot truned out to be a crack whore:

She may be old, but she's slow. :)

Ask some of the FAs they were probably onboard for the delivery flight! ;)

Some of them in the Delta fleet used to be North Central Airlines, right?

You bet. Southern and Hughes Airwest as well. The old Northwest Orient never flew the 9.

I think all the DAL 9's are -50's now. I have no idea where they came from. You see a "EA" N number now and then. Must be Eastern.

That article wasn't too surprising. Everyone knows the DAL Diesel 9s are old and way past their prime (gas hogs). Have you flown on AA MD80s lately? They are seriously looking their age - beat-up and dilapidated. How will AA replace 300+ MD80s over time? Do they have enough 737-800 orders to cover them in the coming decades?

If you guys insult my airplane one more time I am going to.... do nothing about it. :( I actually enjoy flying it, still. It can be a lot of work to manage the heat in the summer, but the 9 is sneaky and grows on you. Oh, we we are still flying N401EA around. I think it was Eastern, Republic, Northwest, now Delta..

Well...WHY was that a "bad thing"?

Seems to me that, for about 10 bucks...you could have "cocked out with the rocks out. "

:)

YKMKR

Was crack around in 1978. Probably a coke head or heroin addict is more realistic. Crackheads always seem to be less attractive for some reason.

Indeed it was .... Richard Pryor set himself on fire in 1980 whilst freebasing cocaine. Thankfully his moustache was unharmed.
