And, it is great news you are getting a 3% pay increase too. I am sure the AT guys are also happy about that, since that 3%, added to the eventual 35%, will equal a 38% raise to what they earn now, which is good for all of us. Regardless, I think ALL OF YOU ARE FANTASTIC PEOPLE. REALLY. YOUR MERGER WILL MAKE EVERYONE COMBINED EVEN MORE AWESOME. Converted to hourly, we now top out at $210... not too shabby. 2% more next year (and maybe 3%).

This is good news for pilots. However, how about the ground crews (rampers, customer service agents, and provisioning agents who were or maybe still are the $10 or $12 per hour slaves?). A 2 or 3% raise isn't much these days for those folks, especially living in some of the cities that SWA serves.

What about the cleaners? The TSA agents? They don't see any raises because they are contract or gov. employees. What about the guy taking bags curbside, whats 2 or 3% mean to him?

Actually in past history whenever times were good for the industry, SWA's profits always lag the majors, difference is when times were bad, SWA still eeked a profit while the majors blew their wad. SWA always had slow managed growth with little overburdensome debt, where the majors would grow and leverage. When things are good, there is money to be made, when the market was bad, SWA didn't have debt to service and could pull down service to lose less.

I agree though, interesting times are ahead, SWA is not so small anymore and the fuel hedges have equalized the playing field. This may be good for the whole industry though as they now charge reasonable fares and if the fares are reasonable, most companies can make a profit. When the fares are unreasonable, companies bleed just to not lose market share.

Actually using the contractual conversion rate it equates to $211.97 an hour. I'm just sayin'...........
