I have flown with pilots absolutely convinced that each are going to happen- so I'm interested in what the flightinfo crowd has to say:

mergers/acquisitions:

1- sun country
2- air tran
3- Alaska

fleet:
1- 787's within 5 years
2- bombardier C1000
3- 737's ????

Route map:
1- 4 new cities in 2010 ??? Which?
A) san Juan, PR
B) how will ATL happen?
2- near Int'l
3- far Int'l within 7 years

In regards to the ATL hub, a new airport is being built about 30 miles W-NW of ATL in Paulding County, near Dallas, GA. I've heard rumors about SW moving into that airport, but it doesn't look large enough for airline service.

Believe me. The pilots have no idea what's gonna happen. It will be a surprise to everyone. Anybody who says they know is full of POS....

paulding county airport is nearly done. And, yes I've heard the same rumors about SWA going in there.

RV

Herb told me that there wasnt a company they werent looking at for the next aircraft/engine. He said that the Bombardier seemed like a great option. Seating around 150. Two isles = faster boarding/more bin space. Boeing too busy trying to get the 787 delivered, Airbus too busy trying to find an answer to the 787. It looks like its going to be a pretty nice plane.

Someone found their Dad's hooch again.

I could go for possibility any of those on the list except for the sun country one. I mean some of them would be extreme for what swa has done in the past, but why sun country? If sun country is on the list then I am going to add scenic air.

SWA in ATL? This has been "a project" for over 7+ years now. Gonna happen? Who knows

Other

No hiring until further notice

Charlotte

Cincy

San Juan

And a Denver domicile.

Those are the only for sure's I can think of .

Gup

I forgot OAK domicile closing with DEN opening...

Our management initiated talks with Boeing on 787 bc customers do not like 73 on transcons- and could be used etops later,
but bombardier initiated talks with us on C1000

I had heard dobbins opening up dual use- but new airport sounds better- they don't want to mess with ATL- and economy in Atlanta growing on north side

in mike boyds words- it's not just what southwest is- it's what it will be

Sun Country would give SWA the ETOP certificate and aircraft that they would need to fly to Hawaii. The new CBA only allows codesharing among the Hawaiian Islands, not to/from Hawaii.
