this time around

I imagine this won't last as long as SKYBUS, once Miami Air does't get a payment I am sure the planes will stop flying.

Second, don't any of these investors research the main players and realize they are just professional scammers, sorry venture capitalist who are getting loaded off of a doomed business plan from the start?

Yeah, the guys running this weren't part of the catastrophic team who ran skybus... Bill Diffendorfer (CEO), Ken Gile (COO), and Mike Hodge(CFO) where the three top players in SX for over 9 months into the company's last days. They took the control of the company from Weikle in a boardroom coup, siting among other things, his cosy relationship with the pilots. Weikle, who had planned a MUCH slower and low profile growth for the company and wanted to stick religiously to the Ryanair model, give huge incentives to his pilots and run in routes that the majors or large LCC's wouldn't touch due to economies of scale...

They on the other hand took the company from him, immediately alienated the pilots with a major change in how pay was going to work (thus the stories of the $60K/yr CA's).. and other interesting episodes of anti-pilot behavior ensued (like the buy your own water and coffee).. This along with completely going off the business plan with 2 times the growth rate originally planned, changes to routes, trans-cons, and high oil sealed it for SX..

Diffendorfer is a former EAL and CAL lawyer turned Airline Exec who needs to be barred from ever working in aviation, Ken Gile is a WN former DO who had no spine, and Hodge is a Hedge fund manager (the bane of aviation).

Weikle is a 25 year Abex operaions man; also UPS Airlines, and also owned a chain of UPS Stores. He has been trying to found an airline for a while, SX being the closest he got to success, but again, it was stolen from him.. literally a couple of weeks into the airlines beginning of operations.

Re: Skybus re-run!!!

With all the job losses, who will be able to afford even $9.00 for a ticket??
How much will the flight crew get paid on a monthly basis with ticket prices under $10.00/seat??

For the next two years (assuming it lasts that long and works), the crew is paid what ever Miami Air pays, it's an ACMI contract with them.

OMG! Learn what you're talking about before for you spout off. Only 9 seats per flight are $9.00.

Give em a chance before you bash.

Give them a chance? Screw that...I hope they tank quickly. That's all this industry needs right now is something else to dilute demand for everyone else when we're almost getting our heads above water.

And what the hell is with that silly Pet airline thing. Now is not the time for a new carrier.

Re: Not @ GSO !!!

Do not think you will see this NEW outfit in GSO anytime soon!!SkyBus left there owing the airport authority well over $100K in fees!!!

we got to use one of the double decker catwalks ( their ingenius device) for deplaning the other day at GSO. PTIA authority spent over 52 million in terminal improvements to host skybus.

someone talked about venture capital. he doesn't need any . all he needs is a phone , a fax, and a computer. with the cash flow this will generate, he'd be a fool to actually try and set up an in house 121 operation.

with ACMI, the 1.4 million in grants, and the ad budget are all the tools he needs.

At least some furloughed UAL guppie drivers may find work for a couple of years

No....since they will told "You will just go back to UAL when recalled" We want KOOLAID drinkers who will work for us at $20.00 an hour.

"Kindly place your Total time and Felony convictions in the body of your email and let us know how little of pay you will work for"
