Well I'm still flying but keeping my fingers and everything else crossed. When I started this job (over 8 years ago) I honestly thought that this is a position that I could potentially retire from. Great equiptment, great pay, blah, blah but now I really don't know. There are so many factors that are completely out of my control and that gives me some great discomfort.

I have had my resume updated and improved by a pro, gone back to school to work on the MBA, and worked on my short game through the winter.

And continue to pray that this all turns around.....

I have a couple of personal training certifications that are helping to pay the bills in the mean time. Between running a couple of boot camps and offering strength training in between, at least my child support is paid...lol.

I'm also trying to get a job flying Citations overseas.

I'm in... for now... contract only but the pay is decent and the airplane flies often enough. I really like the job, and I pray that I will be able to keep it. There has been talk of it becoming a full-time position but that seems a ways off yet.

Oh and AIG Exec's fly free because they're financially backing me. My start-up costs are about $176m.

Hi!

I WISH I was flying rubber dog******************** out of HK! Instead, after 3 1/2 months of nothing, I am going to Nairobi Sun to fly DC-9s for about 6 months, then we'll see what happens...

The job and flying sound interesting, but being on a 5 1/2 month trip (as opposed to a 3 or 4 day trip, say), is a bit long for me, especially since I like seeing my CEO and kids A LOT! Previously, my longest gig away from home was about 6 wks.

I know most of the guys laid off from my airline have NO job, flying or otherwise. 4 (out of about 30) were recalled this past week, but WAY out of seniority order (they said they would recall in seniority).

Mostly just waiting for the phone to ring. I keep checking the ringer on it every couple weeks. It still works although it is a little dusty. A small contract gig comes down the pipe once a while and that keeps me hoping, but nothing big enough to pay the bills..... I'm not in a position to go overseas but the guys I know that have tried say that is even getting tough.

Laid off in August. Collected unemployment for 6 weeks. Had to move 5.5 hours away to find a jet job but it was a pay raise and got a new type rating out of it. Didnt realize then how bad it would get so I am glad to have a job.
