Well within my short stint of DX'ing so far I have learned a few things already. Low viz, alternates, ARINC sucks a lot of the times, but one thing just drives me nuts...

Why the hell do we insist on sending GHMC crews from DTW and MSP into the entire state of MI (both upper and lower) during the winter is beyond me. Seriously, lake effect all day, crappy vis, xwinds beyond landing limits, and MUs no higher than 25 most of the time.

That and for some reason YKF wont post NOTAMS into our systems anymore. No idea why, they just dont do it so we have to look them up via the web seperate from every other NOTAM we look at.

That, and our planning system for some reason wont put middle names on our releases into Canada when we generate them. So after we create the release, we need to go back into the system and insert them manually. We forget, its like a 10000 dollar fine per name or something. Damn Canadians

Stupid. ugh

Anyone got any stories?

you're an idiot.
After reading what the OP posted in a thread regarding someone's friend and colleague being in a coma following a horrendous car accident...I would have to agree.

None of these things drive me crazy because these are the things we do as dispatchers...especially at the regional level.

Is the flight legal? Is it safe, per the FARs and company regs? Those are your concerns. Don't dispatch the flight if the answer to either of these questions is "no". Simple enough, sparky...

No Pay, Shi#y Mgmt, taking phone calls from stupid pilots all day...I hate it all!!!
