....are they hiring?? i keep hearing about new crj-900 comin' in 2009 i guess delta colors out of SLC.
Do You guys think they gonna hire into the crj-9 or into the Saabs???? maybe direct entry captains??
thanx for the info....

Direct entry Captains??? Really???

Yep, direct entry CA for NW/DL guys getting flushed. :)

Sorry, but had to say it. I assume that Messaba hired for 15 CRJ900s and now are only getting 5 so I think whoever told you they are hiring is mistaken as they are probably going to be furloughing some of the people hired for those future deliveries that won't happen.

Auch....

....so the 36 or so crj-9 are pure fantasy??? wow!!!! are we goin' to see the end of this or what???
i hope nobody will get furlough....
keep us posted...

Received the 36 plus we are receiving 5 more. At one point we were told we would receive 15 more and started hiring for those deliveries. At this point we may be over staffed.

No you all just pulled a PSA, you hired until you furlough, and will do so until you hire. Although yours was due to planes not comming and theirs was due to CA's not moving up to mainline.

right now we are over staffed and offering early retirement packages to some. Looks like they think we have too many pilots for now. But i will predict this, late in 2009 we will get another order of 900's. How many? 1-35 Delta has options I am sure they will get.......but in reality, who knows. I am just hoping for more, since I want off reserve. Wishfull thinking.

Exactly! They did it before, did it again and I'm sure will continue to repeat this asinine process as long as they are in business.

As I've said to a couple of people I work with, XJ is the only company I know who could take growing by 5 airplanes and turn it in to an overstaffing clusterf&^k.

Raskal,
Had you been around XJ for the last 10+ years, you'd know that this is the first time that XJ has been proactive in hiring for aircraft. Whether it be the Saab, the Avro, or the last bunch of CRJ's, they always waited and played the short staffed game. (Anyone else remember canceled summer vacations?) In a sick way, it's ironic that management here is being treated from "their upper management" the way they've treated the pilot group. . . Being s$%t on at the last minute. I'm not defending management here, but they were planning on more than just 5 aircraft coming. That doesn't help the guys at the bottom of the list though. No furloughs until J.S. came to run the ship (A.K.A. he drove the ship right into the ground). You reap what you sow J.S. and J.R.

J.S., btw, are you more concerned with winning aircraft contracts and flying or ground servicing contracts?
