Just saw in this weeks ASA Connection that we're getting 2 used Comair 200's as MX spares. If our block hours per plane are so much less, why do we need more airframes to cover the flying? I thought ATL would start looking like CVG with 200's parked everywhere.

With the MX issues I've read about in other ASA threads...perhaps spares are in order. One good spare can save, potentially, dozens of downline delays in a single day.

Nobody said anything about flying them. They are spares. I was hoping you would play nice after your vacation.

Comair is subleasing a total of 8 planes to ASA and Pinnacle. I was told the sublease price is $80k a month (don't know how much Comair is paying for them). :D

I think that would have paid to bring all the furloughees back and then some. However, that would never happen... it's just another $640k a month to the bottom line.

Its during the slow months when you send your A/C in for paint, heavy chks, mods etc. You also still need a few spare for your daily mtc issues. The way it looks our one of our mtc spares was damaged by one of our vendors taking it out for several days and contributed to many cxld flts. 67+ flts cxld in one day w/ 63 due to mtc is not good. To avoid this in the future a couple of extra mtc spares never hurt. Hopefully this will give the mtc dept time to work on the ever rising deferal list. I want our guys back on property as soon as possible also but to be able to bring them back to a strong and viable company is more important.
