Furloughs at Kalitta Air

I hear there are going to be furloughs at Kalitta Air. Going down to 9 classics and 2 -400s.

Anyone know how many people this affects?

There are to many classics and not enough cargo. The -400's are enough, for the time being. Atlas will probably be parking a couple classics in the first quarter. It all depends on demand, and right now, there ain't much demand.

Take the seniority list of about 250 subtract 150 answer is those going to the street. Nearly half the FE's too.

It's called Workforce Investment Act, or WIA for short. Lots of info on here, or google it.

Good luck, those funds are drying up quick. The amount paid varies by state. This summer I looked into it and the max in my state was $4000.

When I was furloughed, I got $0 from both WI or MO.

However, MI HAS been giving that money out this year.

I have heard for sure a -100 is being parked. But they might not be parking a -200. I think there are some heavy checks coming up also. We will see what happens. Happy Holidays...

I just finished my 737 type from Higher Power and was able to get funding through Wayne county in MI. They understand pilots and have done this before. Good people to work with.

In MI you can apply in whatever county you want, so if you are near Wayne county go there. When I started the process I was working with Oakland county and they are clueless about pilots and our training needs.

First furlough for Kalitta since Connie restarted the company back in Nov. 2000. After 8 years of growth and expansions and now this. My prayers to all whose names are on the furlough list. What a way to ring in the holidays. Tough times ahead for all.
