Hi All, Just sent my paperwork in after completing gleims CFI course for the millionth time. This is the first time I have been actively instructing in over 12 years when I took the course. My question is since I had to send my original cert. in can I still instruct? Thanks in advance.

I just renewed mine with jeppesen and they emailed me a temporary a day after they got my paperwork. I think gleim did the same when i used them.

I did mine with Gleim online course about a year ago, and I can't remember if I printed out a temp cert online or if Gleim mailed me a new one within a few days. If you call Gleim they should be able to answer this one for you.

Gleim FIRC!

Just did mine 2 months ago with Gleim. Super easy. No need to sit there for 16 hours. Since I don't instruct anymore, I brezed through without even reading the outlines. Just knocked out the questions in a few days, piecemeal when I had time. For $25 more, you can have them take care of doing the FSDO's paperwork. Best way to go.

no....your cert must be on you to be valid.

Whoops. No one answered his question.

Gleim sends you a paper temp within a few days. Call if you havent received it by now. They may also be able to email it to you so that it can be printed. Not positive, though. FAA perm will follow a couple months later.

And yeah, you do need the CFI certificate on you, even if it's a paper temp.

This is one reason the internet is terrible.

I know you addressed his point. the "whooops" was to everyone including myself who posted their wonderful GLEIM experience without actually answering his question. You werethe first to answer it. I followed up on it.

:)

Actually the correct answer, as I also just completed the Gleim renewal process. When the courese is completed and the ACR process is used to eliminate the need for a FSDO visit, specific instructions are given. These are copied directly from the Gleim website:
Mail the required ACR documents and your CFI card to Gleim Publications, Inc.: Before you mail these documents, please make a copy of your notarized Official Identification Document and both the front and the back of your current CFI certificate. These copies will serve as proof of your qualifications until you receive your temporary CFI certificate from Gleim.
