When exactly did we start letting ICAO drive the bus? First were the 4 digit flight numbers....then the flight plans...now this. I thought we were in charge damn it!!!!

ICAO started driving when the Bush Administration thought it was a good idea to pass Open Skies. We are one step closer to cabotage and the end of the American airline industry.

All this ICAO stuff you see now being implimented was suppose to go into effect 10 years ago in the late '90s during the Clinton Admin. The FAA then decided to give a 10 year extention to these changes. I'm sure Bush could put it off another 10 if he wanted to but maybe now the FAA believes this is a good time for this.

I think that perhaps we are seeing the first signs of Re-Regulation. As Far as Medical Professionals being aggravated over changes to 1ST class medical duration for people under 40, I do not agree. Every Medical Professional that I have talked to says it is more hassle than it's worth to stay current and certified to write FAA medical certificates. They do it for the most part because they love to fly or love the aviation business.

Mesaba already sent out a memo saying the company requirement stays the same. Captains must get a medical every 6 months. Dang!

Ditto Horizon. Waiting for Sabre to reprogram whatever TRS-80 they run Training Records on. They're having a hard time finding cassette tapes. I offered them some of my old Styx albums.

This is the first good thing to come from ICAO....Airspace, METAR/SA TAF/FT, callsign issue.......were BS....

The medical requirement should be dropped anyway.....You don't need one to drive a car and that is far more dangerous if you have a heart attack....

It may be a hassle, but many of them are making big bucks giving medicals--especially the certificate MILLS. I know of one Doc in Miami that works Monday through Thursday, 9:30 until 4:30, and does about 35 medicals a day at $100. $3500 dollars a day is not alot of money anymore, but it's not a bad life for him. For regular customers, he has a 5 minute evaluation, write the check, pick up the certificate, and you are out the door in less than 15 minutes.

How about a boat?

any changes to the ekg requirement at 35 (baseline).

Speaking of which I turn 34 in another 2 months. So when do I have to do my ekg? Before my 35th birthday or at my first medical after my 35th?

thanks
