Solutions? YGTBFSM. This is a guy who supposedly belonged to a group that tried to bankrupt OUR union. The only thinking he does is about himself! If you're so admiring of him, why don't you just ask him out.
From my observation, His group was not trying to bankrupt OUR union. They were attempting to bring about change and require OUR union to represent all members fairly and to follow their own resolutions and policies--instead of applying them disparately. If the suit had no merit, it would have been thrown out on the many requests by ALPA. For the record, I was not a supporter, but avidly followed the case through the legal course. It was an eye opener.
The only thinking he does is about himself? We are all guilty of that--be honest!
If you are so admiring of him, why don't you just ask him out? First, that is a very juvenile attempt to attack personally, instead of having good discussions/debate. Although I do not agree with some things he puts forth, I do agree with many other things. However, that is also true with my interactions/experiences with most others.
Good discussion/debate can be informative, revealing, insightful, opinion changing, opinion affirming, and last and should be least--entertaining. He does not have all the answers, but certainly, neither do YOU or I. However, I will always defend his right and YOURS to have a different opinion from mine, and even to be able to argue it. The idea is to be informed, and that means listening, hearing, assessing, and processing input and opinions whether I agree or not. That is really the only way for knowledge and understanding to occur and grow!
Of course, on this forum, one has to wade through and filter all the minutia, extraneuos info, and sometimes personal attacks to benefit from any of the ideals previouly discussed. Even this forum, with all it's detriments to valid and truthful information, can still be educational. However, there seems to be an inverse relationship at times between the ideals of education and entertainment/sport.
Someone once said that countries only go to war, when good communication stops. Personal attacks are very shallow, jevenile, indicative of lack of intellectual depth, and not productive. I have been guilty and can be guilty, also.
Having respectful discussions/debates with others who have different opinions is where learning can start. There are opinions and facts and my challenge is to ascertain the difference, process , and affirm or modify my opinion/position. I am all about communicating, as that is where learning can start and knowledge can grow. As I get older, I hope to be wiser and continue to learn. Achieving those goals can never happen if I am not willing to interact with those who may have different opinions and experiences.
As I get older, I discover that I have been wrong many times because of lack of knowlege. Isolating myself physically or mentally from those with different opions would inhibit/prevent me from challenging my own opinions/positions. Perspective and different perspectives are necessary in the learning process and reaching truth.
Thanks for your indulgence.
