Our union put out the word that the airtran ceo decided to fire all the probationary pilots before talking with the union. Good Luck to all the AirTran guys. I have a loot of good friends there. I may stir the pot with my two "favorite friends" Lear 70 and PCL 128 but if this is true it really bites the big one.

Ummm...and which "union" would that be that you supposedly belong to and is supposedly putting out this misinformation?

Nobody has been fired or furloughed. According to the AirTran Chief Pilot himself, as it stands at this moment, there are currently no plans to furlough/fire the probationary guys or anyone else for that matter.

By the way, learn how to spell the word, "to". Check your thread title.

OMG, Were you drinking when you posted this tripe.... what does that ATP stand for...? Alternative transformative personality??

Don't you think there is enough "real" bad news these days without starting BS.. don't worry, happy hour is soon.... Geeez

Actually it was a rumor that turns out to be a true conversation. The company wanted a concession. I'm not sure if it was to drop everyone to a 60 hour guarantee or to be allowed to not furlough the training dept retirees first. Anyway, the union said no and the company stomped their feet and said "fine, we will just fire all the probationary pilots." This was discussed in an all pilot conference call. I did not listen to the call but heard it came from the union. Anyone actually listen to the call?

I listened to the call. MB said that someone in upper mgt stated that they would fire the probation pilots, he did not say who said it but you can probably guess. He stated that no one in mgt has refuted this certain VP's statement. MB said that the NPA is working on everything legally possible to keep the new hires on property. Personally I believe it is another scare tactic from mgt.

It was posted on the swapa website. The swapa pres. had a meeting with the npa pres and this is what he was told.

I is next to the O. Grow up spelling police. Who gives a rats behind if he had a typo? While in bad taste, if even remotely true, Airtran pilots should be one ticked of bunch.

Yes, it is true that the company made that threat.

They haven't actually acted on it.

Yes, the pilots are ticked off... have been for some time now.

Not going there with the blanket party comment...

Don't know why BravoDude felt the need to post a new thread; this was discussed ad nauseum last week. He seems to have a hard-on for anything anti-AirTran, never has much of anything good to say. I'd put him on my ignore list but other people quote him, so it doesn't do any good... easier to ignore him and put him in the J-money/InstructorDude/TankerClown category and move on about your business.

Thanks for the support, Vixin.

Bravod0uche, no probie has been terminated, and you can bet that none will be. Simply an idle threat. But just so you know, neither myself nor Lear70 would be affected by it if they did. I'm sure that eases your mind.

Knowing this place - I wouldn't be so quick to say that none will be...
As I said in another thread - if the company doesn't like the language in our contract that says that non-senority list instructors go first in the event of furloughs - then they can meet us at the negotiating table. Don't forget the checkbook.

Lear70 can't be affected because...he doesn't work at Critter.

You will be affected by it because you will be closer to the bottom.

What a pathetic company that threatens to fire probies.

The other Herb Turd chimes in!!!!!!

Please by all means, find a different way to commute to work.

You just referred to the three pillars of flight info. Please try to show more respect when mentioning the exalted three, or there may not be any virgins waiting for you on the other side.

What are you doing now that your job as a Skyway stewardess is gone?

I firmly believe it's nothing but a bluff, and a damned good one at that. The guys in MCO know what they're doing. A shame that our union doesn't seem to.

Looks like you could use a little time with the dictionary yourself pal.

"of". You mean, "off".

Don't worry about us. We'll be fine. We don't need you telling us how ticked OFF we should be. That is a 24/7 item over here with this management.

All i did was ask a question. you gave me an answer and thats all I wanted. You want to keep bashing me go right ahead. (all in all i'm glad no probi is going to be fired or anybody for that matter).

Perhaps you didn't mean any harm by it. If that's the case, my apologies. I took it as you taunting our junior pilots.

Patience,,, arbitration is coming.

But then you wouldn't have anyone to sling mud at... classy.

True.

The game's afoot now. The NPA just sent out a blast email that the company has stated they will seek 180 furloughs. Funny, the number of probationary pilots is 183 effective Sept 1st.

Coincidence? I think not. Scare tactic? You betcha. Will they go through with it? Don't know. It's a game of "Let's see who blinks first".

Also seeking pay concessions of 10% from CA's, 8% from F/O's. The general consensus on the internal message boards, even from people I've never seen post before, is GFY.

Maybe the pilots are seeing the light of day that saving 1/10th of 1% of the total CASM isn't going to make or break the company... We can hope.

If they are going to provide the 60 day notice required by the WARN Act, they will have to furlough later than that.

If memory serves, the WARN Act only comes into play if more than about 30% of an employee group will be affected. I don't believe it is applicable in this case.

I have no reason to taunt your junior pilots. I have quite a few friends there so I was just wondering if it was true or not. Thats all.
Getting fired is no laughing matter and I would never joke about that.

******************** I hope not...I thought only regionals try to do that. Thought "mainline" even at Airtran was supposed to be free of BS like that.
