I stand corrected.

I think you get my point though that comparing the old America West to Alaska Airlines is a bad comparison.

I think the only relevant point is that although the West might have been out of business without the merger, the East certainly would have been. For the West pilots to get kicked to the street while USCABA sits idly by is unacceptable. Hopefully the Westies are familiar with the term "DFR."

AWA "DIDN'T" bail out UsAir.:erm: If both companies did not merge together then Both companies would not be hear today! AWA might have been in slightly better shape than UsAir but not by far. Investors put up the money and merged the two together. That is what saved the two airlines and the name USAir was kept because it was globally known.

Fact: US Air was acquired by America West Holdings. Check the SEC filings.
Fact: US Air was had been in Ch. 11 until just prior to the completion of the transaction, and was in immediate danger of entering Ch. 7 if the transaction was not completed.
Fact: You are basing your argument (Pertaining to America West Airlines) on statements of opinion made by Doug Parker that were vague at best (and perhaps designed to appease the AAA employees to some degree....as if that could happen).
Fact: Oh, never mind. It's like arguing with a wall. It seems that each of us has our own little reality. Some are based in factual information and others are based on emotion.

Hey General, when Delta announces its cuts which will send you in to the right seat of an MD90, or perhaps a DC9, will you be the first to post the press release?

Yeah exactly, he is always the first to post bad @$#% about other airlines, Hey GL when was the last time your chic got laid? Hmmmm.... an average of 5.26 posts PER DAY since Aug 2002=

LOSER

Heard from a friend 250 furloughs out West, I don't know how many out East. If the TA is still in play then the number out East should be much higher. quote]

I don't understand your "TA in play" comment, Deadalus. Would you restate what you meant please?

Under the TA(Transition Agreement) all new hires after the merger would be furloughed first, East or West. It would be the right thing to do. Since USAPA could care less about what is the right thing to do I doubt it will be enforced.

Fact: Both Usairways and America West would have been out of business if it were not for the goverment backed loans after 9/11.

Fact: ATA and frontier were the other 2 airlines that needed goverment cheese to stay in business after 9/11.

Fact: Less goverment more free market in the airline business!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, that is FANTASTIC that you can print in large letters. I think you will do well in your next career, graphic arts. And, if you think I need hours to supposedly do "5.26 posts per day"---then you are wrong. It's great you did all that math though, you power nerd. Regardless, it is just fun to banter with true losers like yourself. Pure entertainment for me. Thanks, keep it going.

Bye Bye--General Lee

don't get lost in the "fog" with all the East vs. West stuff. USAir loves to furlough and when nobody is looking........outsource to the Commuters. They did it with the E170. I'm sure they will try to do it with the E190. There are plenty of Commuter dudes that are chomp'in at the bit to fly a 100 seat/115,000 MGTOW aircraft for $75,000 per year. (For the left seat)

With US Airways stock soo low and parking more aircraft, including cancelling the A330 order, I would say they are heading back toward Bankruptcy in the not to distant future. The A330 was suppose to be used to fly to China, which means that is probably not going to happen.

Plus they have stated they are going to park more aircraft in 2009 and 2010. Unless fuel drops dramatically or the industry some how turns around otherwise, I would say they are in real danger.

Unforunately, alot of friends on the West will lose out.

Just read about 300 pilots to be furloughed total. Not sure how many on each side. Hopefully oil prices will tank as quickly as they've risen.
