Let it not be forgotten this is because of usapa.
usapa now wants to charge MORE than alpa, even with the 401k debacle. So much for saving money.
If you see a usair usapa guy wearing a yellow lanyard, thank him for increasing your dues.
Just another in the LONG list of usair pilots ruining this profession..............................
ps.
It's not ALPA. Prater sucks, however, usapa is to blame for costing ALL of us millions of dollars.
I predict it fails and all of the crying going on here will be for nothing.
Why is anyone suprised? ALPA is a business, just like the airlines and "evil" big oil. There first job is to maintain the money train to it's leaders, just like the airlines and "evil" big oil. They only care about maintaining the business and not how it affects the members.
Since their lack of leadership has cost them members they now feel it is okay to punish their members.
I guess one way around this is to reduce your 401k to the bare minimum and invest the rest yourself.
Sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen.
ALPA is an organization where its officers are well compensated.
No, this is not "all for nothing." If the original poster had not brought this to people's attention by posting this information, many would not know that it is occurring.
They "didn't listen to me" about Capt. Chunky.

He should make what he would make at his airline plus per diem. That's what all the rest of his "union brothers" make.
I pay dues so I am involved.
As far as the lawsuit I mentioned. You know some one will file one if this actually happens.
Last time I voiced my opinion to ALPA it was ignored. Remember age 65? Most of us said no, but ALPA saw the money and said yes.
Good luck finding anyone to take a job that has ten times the work for the same money while having to live in one of the highest cost of living areas in the country.
Wrong. Involvement takes more than the bare minimum required of you. Involvement means going to meetings, voting, talking to your reps, etc... Not everyone needs to volunteer, but everyone needs to be involved.
On what basis? There are no grounds for a suit here.
No, most of the membership didn't vote at all.

tell me again what hotel the BOD will be in
how many attorneys are on the payroll????
Should we post those salarys again!!!!!
It still pisses me off that Prater, and all other Pres', make the money they make while they have no problem with newhires making what they make. I believe unionism means protecting all, not just some.
People file suit over everything. Some one will if this happens.
And what good is it doing you to know about it? Are you going to do anything about it? Are you going to bring a resolution to your next Local Council meeting? Have you called your status rep? Have you sent an email to Prater? Or are you going to do the traditional flightinfo anti-ALPA thing: sit on your ass and do nothing while continuing to whine. If this passes, it will be because the membership did nothing about it. Take responsibility for your own profession and your own union and stop pointing fingers at Herndon.
Contributions to IRA's don't lower your W-2 earnings since they are made with after tax dollars.

Oy, vey. The levels of self sanctimony with these ALPO cheerleaders is nauseating.
At my previous ALPO airline when most individuals attempted to volunteer they were turned down or steered into non-voting positions. As "outsiders" they were less controllable and thus a threat to those in power.
Your pathetic and predicable responses have been repeated so often, it is if a recording is being played, Rez and PFT_128.
NATIONAL SENIORITY LIST
Until then, just sad.
The other Pres' make the money that they would make at thier airlines plus cost of living expenses...
If you want to talk about the issues... get informed.
Only the President makes a larger salary...
The President's salary is determined at the BOD. One is coming this fall. Wanna do something about it...
How is ALPA democracy any different that our own American gov't...??
Why do you think Prater is ok with what newhires make? He isn't. He wants their pay to go up. But there's not much he can do about it if the pansy line pilots keep voting for crappy contracts. Prater merely signs what you send him.
You can file whatever you want. Getting a judge to hear a case that has no merit is something else entirely.
Tell him, brother!!! And how do you expect pay at the regionals to go UP when you still have pilots paying for a job...oh, sorry. Why do you think Prater is ok with what newhires make? He isn't. He wants their pay to go up. But there's not much he can do about it if the pansy line pilots keep voting for crappy contracts. Prater merely signs what you send him.
Prater doesn't give a rats a$$ about newhire pay. He's not one. But he is the leader of this union and therefore sets the tone of our agenda.
56% of the members polled didn't want the age 65 law to pass. That's from ALPA's July 2005 survey. They didn't poll 5000 furloughees because they figured they would be against it anyway. Prater choose to ingore it.
Did you vote? I hope so. If not please get involved. I voted.

They way the members whine and cry and claim victim status for themsleves (SIC-spelling incorrect) all while never voting and creating grassroots movements is pathetic and embarassing...
It is disgusting that they call themselves Americans
Will you vote?
(This makes you sound like O.J. Simpson... 1000% innocent. So you gave him your son, yet to be born or what?)You obviously don't know Prater. As everyone here knows, I'm not a fan of the guy, and I supported Captain Woerth 110%,
