Why is anyone suprised? ALPA is a business, just like the airlines and "evil" big oil. There first job is to maintain the money train to it's leaders, just like the airlines and "evil" big oil. They only care about maintaining the business and not how it affects the members.

Since their lack of leadership has cost them members they now feel it is okay to punish their members.

I guess one way around this is to reduce your 401k to the bare minimum and invest the rest yourself.

Sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen.

I do not fly for US Airways. My experience on the line is that there are a lot of pilots out there that are glad ALPA was decertified. I'm not going to get into your seniority issues because at this point, it's such a cluster there is no right or wrong answer. ALPA is an organization where its officers are well compensated. Their goal is to not upset anyone that could put their high paying jobs in jeopardy. ALPA finally made a mistake and underestimated the US Airway pilots. Now ALPA is no longer representing US Airways. I'm hoping this puts some accountability on ALPA. If it does not, then I would like to see more pilot groups go independent.

A strong national union would demand a minimum starting wage at all it's airlines. If we were a unified group we could demand that. Prater doesn't give a rats a$$ about newhire pay. He's not one. But he is the leader of this union and therefore sets the tone of our agenda.

I agree with you that each airline pilot group still approve crappy contracts for newhires. Only we can change it and believe me I will vote no on ours if it doesn't improve the life of our newhires.

Actually, I have personally, NEVER missed a vote or a hotline update in my Part 121 airline career. But I never SERVED/ate at the ALPO trough. So who the funk am I right? Rought! Peons do not deserve to share opinions, eh?

Additionally, I personally initiated a "grassroots" (I hate to use this liberal word) effort to reform ALPO. The response from both my co-conspirator as well as my pilot group was exceedingly limp. The trajectory was a continuation of the flight path to pay cuts, fleet shrinkage, career stagnation and loss of morale.
