Linky worky:
PHOENIX, May 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Air Midwest, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Mesa Air Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: MESA - News) today announced that it will discontinue all operations including its current scheduled services provided under the Essential Air Service (EAS) program. This announcement follows the company's January 15, 2008 announcement of the decision to discontinue Air Midwest's operations. The company cites record-high fuel prices, insufficient demand and a difficult operating environment as the main factors in its decision.

This has been rumored for a long time. It was a money loser anyway...

Is there even any companies left that will want to pick up EAS flying?

I can't think of one... High oil may accomplish what congress for years has failed at: Killing EAS.

Best of luck to the AMW pilots. They were a dependable ride to work for me from RDU to ORF for a few years.

Ironically their stock right now is 666..

Mesa going down one day at a time.. Too bad... should be JO going out one day at a time rather I'll venture to say Mesa will be either gone or most of it gone by the end of the year if its run by the same fool..

Let's see........

Mesa over the years has killed it's own family of WestAir, CCAir, Crown Airways, and now Air Midwest.

Next up to roll over... the mother ship of all .... Mesa!!

Who was crown airways? And remind us how CCAir met their demise? Sorry

I believe Crown started as Allegheny Commuter (S330 days) and eventually became Crown (B1900). Flew up in the northeast for USAir out of PIT before a lot of posters on this board were even born. My sim instructor at Mesa was a Crown guy. Top notch instructor and a real class act. I'll never forget him.
