I just read an article that stated Air Wisconsin has a contract with U.S. Airways until 2015.
It said that they would be secure in the industry at least until that point.
I am very apprehensive about the whole airline industry at this point considering my age and leaving my current position to work for a regional.
My choice of a domicile is PHL, so AW is one of the airlines I have been researching along with Republic.
I know in the current state of the indusrty nothing is for sure so any suggestions or inside advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated...

They are secure today, but nobody knows about tomorrow. Unfortunately there is very little security in the airline industry, and the best any pilot can do is make an informed guess, and then roll the dice and hope for the best. Anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves.

Rock-solid agreements can be gutted in bankruptcy, and can be renegotiated at any time, especially during mergers.

All that being said, if you like PHL, give AWAC a shot. I think Republic may be a stronger company, long term, but again, who knows? Roll the dice, good luck!

AW has a great working contract and the pay is very good.

Everthing is gonna go up in the air with this UAL/US Airways Deal.

AWAC is downsizing PHL for the new LGA and RDU domicile.

Not sure by how much but I don't think many new hires are given the option to go to PHL.

Funny. I was unaware this deal has gone through? In addition hasnt DAL/NWA already gone through and we are a FAR way away from even having to worry about what's going to happen. Oh yeah that's right the government hasnt approved that one yet and do we really think the SEC is going to sit back and just allow all these airlines to merge? Give me a break. Lets wait and see before we start announcing mergers and what's going to happen to certain regoinals and others. No one here knows what the hell is going to happen. Each wants their airline to work out yet none have a clue. Only those at UAL/Airways doing the deal have the real inside knowledge and the rest of us are just pawns to the game.

Yes.

You must forget how business (and stockholder) friendly the Bush Administration is...

I had some AW jumpseaters the other day that mentioned that AW is giving back some $ lost during the contract renegotiation in 03. Does anyone know how to make a claim?

Jimbo, you need to update your contact info at ALPA.org. If you are no longer an ALPA member, call Bernadette in ATW at (920) 739-5123. She can put you in touch with HR to update your contact info and probably get you an MEC member's number. We should be recieving a mailing from the MEC shortly that will allow us to tell them we are still alive.

One caveat...you needed to be employed during the arbitrator's defined time period to be eligible to recieve any monies from the $2.5 million.

2015? Question is if the Merger of UAL and US air takes place and UAL is the controlling party how long do you think AWA will last. AWA and UAL parted on such great terms!
