I just paid off my student loans, and can afford to go to the airlines. Over the past 2 weeks I've applied Compass, Republic, Mesaba, and SkyWest, and haven't heard a peep from anyone. I'm starting to wonder if something is wrong with me. I've heard of guys getting a call within a day of sending their app in, which makes me wonder what's going on.

No DUIs, 2 speeding tickets in 7 years, ATP, 2 types, 3600tt, 25 years old, 2 years of college and pursuing a degree online. Not perfect, but I didn't think that I was that bad of a catch for a regional.

Is it me or the economy? Do I dare bother HR?

There is little growth and no real attrition due to the majors' hiring freeze (ie. no place for us to go). Obvioulsy no retirements at the regional level. The party is once again over for a while.

3600tt at 25 years old? Whoa!

Started flying when I was 15. I was LUCKY enough to have a dad that had a plane. Then went to fly freight and built time fast.

Aside from the lack of CRM and modern equipment, freight flying is a great career booster.

Paying off your student loans BEFORE taking a $20,000 a year job... what a novel idea! You are too smart for the regionals my friend. That is the problem.

Go to a fractional, I know everybody and their mother is trying to get on with Netjets, but you can try some of the others that might not have that long of a waiting list. Don't waste your time at a regional with your experience!

no reason to go to a regional with your experience. Go earn a real paycheck. Have you tried Citation Shares?

Dude its only been two weeks, relax.

Keep trying...

Try Republic again. They are still hiring.

I just trained two guys with approximately 1000 TT and 100 multi, no other ratings more than flight instructors.

We're getting a lot of Mesa guys, too.

When I was trying to get a job I had over 2000 total, jet time, 135 experience etc...and never got a call for months. Finally I had a friend walk my stuff in and they called the next day. Be patient and try to find some buddies to help you out.

I heard Eagle is still hiring anyone with a pulse, but seriously you should look elsewhere the regionals are no good.
