Just jumpseated with a interview captain this week. According to him, for now US Airways is not interviewing anyone from the outside. The only pilots they are currently looking at are the Piedmont/PSA guys.

New hire classes will be slowing down here real soon and possible come to a stop.

As far as updating your app, there have been problems with the system. HR is working with the IT department to get it corrected. (OK I will be honest, that might take a few months, IT is working on a lot of projects.)

It I receive anymore info I will pass it along.

IT at USAirways is an oxymoron. They don't use or produce much information and they definately DO NOT use technology

It reminds me of the Breaking news scene in the movie Airplane. When the guy in the jungle is sending a message by beating on a log. Then someone off screen hands him a different set of sticks for the new story. We still have a website that will not support Explorer 7

Good luck though

A few Air wisky guys have gotten on recently, we are not part of the flow program.

Maybe somebody could better explain the preferential hiring of Piedmont/PSA guys. My understanding is that there is no "official" program but that preferential interviewing is taking place as a sort of handshake agreement due to the whole Jets for Jobs thing, basically a thank you for taking the furloughed US Air guys a few years back. It has the same effect as a flow program. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

I am curious as to how the pool is managed to assign class dates... does anybody know if it is a simple First In First Out? Or are there other factors?

No, Piedmont/PSA were suppose to have flowthru rights to Mainline due to a concessionary aggreement signed a few years back.

The agreement provided for RJ's and Flowthru to mainline if concessions were taken.

Now US Airways is not going thru with the contractual rights of PSA/PDT. Hence a lawsuit maybe established. Another meeting is scheduled for the end of April between Mainline and PDT/PSA to hammer out details of a flowthru.

The important thing was that All WO's pilots were to be offered jobs before anyone off the street. (remember seniority is everything in this biz) This is the sticking point.

So in the meantime Mainline decided to Hire 100 pilots from PSA/PDT this year.

More to come on this situation.

things would have been so much easier if parker had just dumped the US airways name...

As someone who is line for the "preferential hiring" I have two questions.
1) do you think usair is going to furlough in the next couple of years with the economy the way it is?
2) I understand the last group hired were offered positions out west. can anyone confirm this? I don't want to take the job if I have to move out west.

Sairways still has the oldest pilot group

The first 4 all went west I know this as fact. As for the furlough it is allways possible, but at least Usairways still has the oldest pilot group. Good luck with your decision.

Amazingly enough, we might actually be one of the better places to be in this downturn. If the recession is prolonged or oil continues to materially rise from these levels, no ones job will be safe.

The fact that we're still running classes is nice. The attrition over the next decade is significant. The labor picture is ugly, but will hopefully improve in coming years.

Good luck.

I checked the status of my application. It still shows recruiter review and it has been since October.

I, too, have been in Recruiter Review since January. Any idea on what that means or if I even have a shot?

Rusty I am kinda wierd about trying for US Airways too. Right now if you go and by chance they furlough you have no flowback rights to PDT. Thus now if you get furloughed from a mainline job during a downturn you are screwed. Where are you gonna go?

From what I hear too was the the guys that got based out West have to pay for there hotels because they are consider in base.

Everything is a risk, but with things the way they are I think I will chill and wait to see if the flowthru does get worked out.

Be nice to have a safety net with all thats going on.

Wsurf did you apply? I applied back in Oct but I have some reservations about going. I really don't want them to call me because I don't want to have to make the decision. I am not sure I can take the pay cut right now, and I certainly don't want to be out west right now.

USAPA, ALPA, TEAMSTERS!!!! is the SOS, but what ever, just keep back stabing each other, pointing fingers are each other becuase is the fault of the EAST no whait the WEST whait whait is it MNGMNT no way...

It was five but who's counting.....
2 of us 5 are actually very happy to be out West!

..and so will USAirways.

PHXFLYR:cool:

Don't worry PF the fearless 5 are going to all chip in and get you some therapy..... it will all be OK, I promise.

There are several other US air topics that answer this. Several by me. Search it out, homey!

Dont miss the boat Surf......
Sure it would be nice to have a safety net of flow back...... but not if you cant get there in the first place. I'm not counting on it (FB) but supposedly we earlier movers would be grandfathered into reaping any rewards from a flow through deal anyhow, so why wait and loose relative seniority on bases and equipment? If you are getting PHX as a base you are considered as training in domicile and you are not entitled to being put up after indoc. it sucks but that is life.... 4 of us got together and have a very comfortable crash pad apartment 15 minutes away from the airport with 3 pools, a lighted tennis court, work out facility ,hot tub and plenty of places to eat within walking distance and bike riding for the grand sum of $158 bucks a piece. Is that really so bad? Face it you will need a crash pad down the road anyhow so you just get one 3 weeks early in our case thats less than a $200 tax deductible expense. It's all what you make of it my friend....
Jump in the waters fine! (before they empty the pool)

You know I've never been a big fan of the airlines that do all of that extra testing stuff on interviews that has zip to do with flying, but you're starting to sway me Buddha.
