XJT Voluntary Furlough's?

Heard a rumor (reliable source .. guy I'm flying with's girl friends - roomate's boyfriend) That XJT was asking for voluntary leaves of absence due to reduced flying. Anybody heard that from another source [couldn't be anymore reliable of course]

Tis true. COLA's which are not the same as voluntary leaves have been offered to first officers only, us captains can look forward to constant re-assignments for the foreseeable future.

Block hours got reduced by CAL for the summer, Branded changed some things up as well.

Moral of the story: Oil aint' cheap these days.

...Unless CEO was referring to instructors being "furloughed" back to the line.

Who knows? Maybe UAL will get sick of MESA (again) and start funneling their flying off. But I'd venture to guess more than likely not the case that XJT gets UAL flying. Hopefully, I'm wrong and it will provide another contract to offset the need for LOA's, and potentially let some guys upgrade.

We have become the premier regional ACMI carrier of choice.

XJT was able to step in and help help out B6 and F9 with short term contracts. Other carriers probably observed how quickly, efficiently, and probably how cheaply they did it. UAL needed some additional lift due to MESA's gaff for spring break, XJT had some planes laying around that need work. A two week deal was inked.

Like I said, hope I'm wrong.

Well since there were only two classes of T numbers, I guess the last 10 guys of the T's are F'ed. Tool

read the contract. THey are awarded in seniority order. A captain cannot be turned down for one and then have one given to a U-number. That is the same as a furlough

70 people applied for COLA, they vary from one to three months in length. Could be a few more as today is the deadline. We'll see how many COLA applications get accepted.
