Age 65, slowing economy, non commonality of fleet types, and the whole point for consolidation: to reduce capacity and increase prices.

There will be furloughs. NWA has a sordid history of hiring to furlough.

I think MOST airlines do the same. It's left hand not EVER saying hi to the right. They get the same message a month later.

USAirways has a history of hiring right up until the first furlough letter is sent out. The again most airlines do.

weren't you supposed to be hired somewhere by now? my guess is, you were lying about getting hired at a legacy.

no matter...now you'll never get hired at a major. sucks, doesn't it?

Sucks to get furloughed maybe but I've got other opportunities and may just get out of this crazy business.

How bout you?

Did USAir and AWA furlough when they got together? No, they didn't, because it was a seamless merger with no hub closures. If there is a merger out there like that again, then there probably won't be furloughs. If two airlines merge that have hubs right next to each other, then there could be. But, if a merger causes a lot of hub closures or job loss, expect local politicians to get involved to try to save jobs, and the merger may not happen anyway. These days almost everyone needs to be happy with the deal, or it won't go through. Look at USAir trying to buy Delta. Wall St and Hedge funds were for it, and the politicians were against it (thanks to funding from labor). It was shot down quickly.

Bye Bye--General Lee

sure you do. my bet is, a moron like you doesn't have "other opportunities."
unless you count dressing up in a gimp outfit to get abused in the S&M club down the street from you, in which case you can at at least continue to afford your velcro mittens.

I've got other opportunities. I am seriously considering the cargo route, FedEx or UPS.

Absolutely amazing how f*&king clueless people really are about this industry and we all wonder who would ever apply at skydou che airlines. lol... Ask your Fedex buddy that flies the caravan.... if he could sponsor me for a job as well.

Unfreakingbelievable...........

Funny. I have a sponsor and good friend who flies for FedEx out of Phoenix. He is on the Caravan. He said he is willing to sponsor me.

That's a relief. If he was just an MD-11 Capt for Mountain Air Express you'd have a problem.

Since he's on the Caravan at mainline, I'd say you're all set. Phoenix is our nicest hub. I think you'll enjoy it. See you on the line.

There were furloughs when AWA purchased the struggling US Air. The furloughs were associated with the shedding of leases on the East side, I believe most were from the 737. Happened shorlly after the marriage was announced, spring - summer of 2005. Those affected were not out that long, as all have been offered recall, and we now are in a hiring mode (nearly 3 years later).

Also the planned hiring on the West side came to a sudden halt in 2005. I believe 15 of the planned 200 pilots were hired in 2005. As the West planned expansion was stopped.

Just food for though, all mergers involve shedding of duplicate assests. And how much the combined group can shed (or gain synergies), is how profitable the combined carrier will be going forward.

Good luck, hopefully we can get this merger mania behind us soon............

Parker also kept extra pilots due to the retirements on BOTH sides of the Mississippi. But now, due to the "me generation" and the age change their is no reason for CEO's to keep ectra pilots for up to 4 years.

Should be fun!

That's strange - I heard Gojet had a flowthru program with a trucking company than has 3 minivans trucking mexican sewage between Juarez and Saltillo, Mexico. That's the freight company you're talking about getting on with right? That's about all you'll get with your clown credentials.

I also heard they pay about 30 pesos/hour. At least that'd be a step up from your Gojet compensation.

I wouldn't doubt that he works at DAL. The quality of new hires there seems pretty bad. I'm sure he'll be furloughed soon though.

This guy is the biggest flame bate on the net, he has even admitted it before, yet people continue to get lured in to his web. I applaud you Instructor Dude for keeping it up for so long, just enough under the radar to keep everyone on their heels.

The real idiots are the ones who buy his act.

This idiot might be a flaming act, but there are pilots out there with his mentality that actually apply and work for places like skybus.... instructor d!ck is just a kid that keeps forgetting to take his daily medication.

And Mr. Zonker.....

Check out md80drvr's avatar and enjoy......
