Congratulations ASA you have been dealt Brad Holt as your new CEO? Someone please tell me who thought of this brilliant move-- someone with zero management skills, given the responsibility of helping ASA strengthen its operations? Maybe this is just St. George's way of moving some stink to the other side of its ops ?

Careful folks this man is a scary human that is not to be trusted and congrats OO you might have a chance in pay talks now that he is gone :l

Actually, his appointment serves two purposes. First, he fills a required position on the certificate. Next, he simply serves as a "human remote control" for the people in SGU, who are the ones that are really calling the shots.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter who serves in the position, as along as they are part of the clan and can deliver the message. He may end up being better than his predecessors, but it is doubtful that he could be worse.

Unlinke OO, ASA has a LEGALLY BINDING CONTRACT. In that LEGALLY BINDING CONTRACT, ASA pilots have never agreed to fly 90 seat aircraft for 50 seat pay. So the pay issue is dead. So far, since Rico's been at ASA, it's been pretty status quo. Some changes have been made, with I would guess a lot more to follow. Some more poor folks are heading to Atlanta from St. George. He's issued a few statements to the rank and file I have so far been impressed with. We will see if he backs them up over time. When our performance improves, ASA's profitability will do likewise--exponentially. We are already a money tree, add a decent operation on top of that and you have a ridiculous profit machine. Staffing will be a challenge in 2008. I will tell you, I would much rather have Uncle Rico then that idiot Lebrick.

OO pilots don't fly 90 seat aircraft...we do have 86 seat aircraft that are configured with 76 seats, which is paid higher than the 50 seat rate.

Ask any Mesa pilot how much "legally binding contract" means when management is totally inept.

"We see this issue as a gray area....grieve it....."

You have an override, like that hasn't been pointed out before! No skywest people should be on here trying to compare what they have over anyone. As far as I'm concerned, I would almost take a Mesa scumbag over a skywest parasite.

How about asking an ASA pilot? That's really the argument here, isn't it? You do have an override, it's not much, but a payraise is coming. You're welcome for that, since you didn't get it on your own, it came at the hands of ASA's fight.

Now you've done it..... You've taken an ALPA battle cry and shot holes in it...... Rez. will be here to admonish you shortly......

While it is true that some ALPA rates have helped the Skywest pilots, it is equally true that many ALPA rates have hurt us here at ASA.....

Mesa, PCL, Mesaba, PSA, and mainline ALPA 70-90 seat rates have done harm to us and our rates....

There are more ALPA carriers bringing our rates down than there are ALPA rates bringing the Skywest rates up......

Can't really help those other Carriers Joe. We can do our best to secure a great Contract within our own abilities/negotiating. ASA cannot get a better Contract for Pinnacle, Comair, Mesa, Air Willy, or anyone for that matter. We can only do what we can and hope for the best for others. I would say Delta Mainline has done more to hurt our rates than any other Regional Carrier.

Was just informed by my contact that Mr. Holt, since he has taken over, has been bombarded with many "higher ups" telling him the Company's problems stem from the Pilot ranks. His response so far, has been something to the effect of.....That's absolutely NOT TRUE. I expect a lot of positive changes from this man. Thank you Jerry and the boys for sending him over. I believe Mr. Holt is the best thing that has happened to ASA in a very long time. We shall see.
