I know that there is a website with the same title. But is doesn't have many majors on it. My question is this. At what major am I going to gain the most seniority over a 25 year career if hired in 08? Lets not get into QAL, or dom, or if they will stay in business that long. I know that this information is spread all over, but I'm to lazy to read a 1000 posts and then attempt to calculate.

Well CAL and AMR have about 2500 retirements to 2011 or so.
At dal there is not a lot of retirements until 2013 or so, but if hired today in your early 30's you will be in the 100-500 range at retirement. I am in the 20-30 range and was in one of the first classes this time around.
Not to sure about UAL and NWA but they have lots of retirements too.

Here are my numbers for DAL. 34yo, hired in Aug 08.

Year Age 60 Retirements Projected Seniority (End of year)
2010 89 6686
2015 348 5559
2025 332 1271
2032 18 184

Minimus!!!

see you for drills next week, think we're both flying Monday evening. They need us there badly these days man, no sh*t talk, attitude, or humor going around that place at all. Flyin' the dog in ATL now? Butch is all pissy cause he had the chance to go 76ER, but was worried about being on reserve too long, so a couple of his junior classmates took it. Course, you probably know all this cause you're both Legacy guys now and are drinkin' from the same coolaid trough. Hope you'll still talk to a slimy little LCC guy like me.

Peace!

It's inevitable that the age 60 rule is going to 65 which needs to be a factor in your calculations.

Age 65 just pushes everyone back five years. You will still be a CA for just as long. You will just be more pi$$y and a lot grayer.

Seniority forecasting is just like palm reading.

It is a scam.

You'll know you made the right choice when you retire. Till then it is just pissing in the wind.

Most won't stay until 65 and many will still retire at 60 or earlier.
