My wife bought one of our friends a ticket to spend Thanksgiving with us on NW.

Flight up was delayed 2 hours due to no crew, then his flight back was canceled this morning for the same reason.

Is the staffing that bad, or schedulers who don't know how to get things covered?

Heard some mechanics on the bus last week saying the ASA guys that left to run the PCL mx in ATL were pretty much told their positions wouldn't be around long, and that PCL didn't have the pilots to staff the planes.

My guess is staffing IS that bad and NW is lying to their customers. Most likely they know about a pirticular flight that might have problems but wait till the last minute to stiff their customers so they won't book on someone else.

If you have to ask such a question, then you don't work in the airline industry. This isn't unique to Pinnacle.

My guess would be on crew sked. Somehow I think our staffing levels are improving due to the loss of aircraft to mesaba.

I'm sure we are a little short staffed, but we are losing planes faster than we are gaining them.

I think we are losing 2 a month and gaining 1 for a net loss of 1 plane a month.

Aren't the Delta Connection -900s going to offset the loss of the -200s to XJ, at least as far as staffing?

PCL 900s are coming to atl to offset the skywest 900s that will be used elsewhere, my guess slc. Skywest is closing their ATL domicile.

24% of the captains company-wide are on reserve. Most FOs on reserve fly less than 40 hours a month.

It is not as much a staffing problem as it is a scheduling construction and reserve utilization problem. If you are flying 6 days in a row with multiple reduced rests, then any abnormality can cause the cancellation for "no crew". If the overnight was cancelled for no crew, the return in the morning will obviously be as well.

I haven't seen the completion numbers in a while, but imagine they are in the high 90's still.

9E is losing aircraft to Mesaba at a faster rate than picking up the 900s for Delta.

Pinnacle is not short, just short sighted.

......and soon to be out of business.

Well if you heard it on the bus then it must be true.

I think your wife knows that isn't true. Idiot.

Ohhhh! What a terrible comeback! Try harder! My wife's an FA. She has no need for short peckers, and has never dated a Pinnacle pilot!

[/b]I'd guess PCL_128 is pounding away with 2.5 inches.

Lashing out because you feel inadequate, John? That's ok. I've seen these commercials on TV about "natural male enhancement." Maybe they can help you out.

Come on PCL, learn to laugh when someone pokes a little fun at ya.

Point taken, but if you're just joking around, you might want to put one of those fancy little smiley faces in your post. Kind of hard to tell if you're joking or just being an ass without one.
