Alaska has a press conference in the morning and Southwest has delayed its internal employees news release until 11:00 A.M. Wonder whats up?

LUV 13.43, -0.20, -1.5%) said late last month that it would be open to providing corporate discounts, a practice it had avoided in the past, and was planning further changes to attract so-called "road warrior" business travelers. It will hold a press conference in Dallas on Wednesday to discuss new products aimed at corporate fliers, said spokeswoman Marilee McInnis.
"We're going to go after the business traveler in a big way, and it will be obvious to all," said CEO Gary Kelly in an October conference call to discuss third-quarter earnings.
He said the carrier would announce details of its business-traveler strategy, which could include changes to its Rapid Rewards frequent flier program, at about the time as its new board practice goes nationwide.
The new boarding process will go into effect at all of Southwest's 64 airports on Thursday. Southwest is assigning travelers specific spots in the boarding queue when they check in, a change from just lumping travelers into boarding groups. But it continues to allow passengers to pick their own seats.
Southwest estimates about 45% of its customers are traveling on business, in line with other other carriers. But it generally fills less of its planes than its major network competitors because its point-to-point network turns away travelers looking for more connections.
