I have been told an over 100 year Japanese shipping company who has recently gotten into the air freight business is interested in buying the SFO UAL mx operation.

If not them, then can you say one of the four Air China carriers, Korean Air, or even Catha Pacific. And if it is not them then think Dubai, Yemen, Saudi, or other oil funded interests.

I am not saying names to protect the innocent but as you can see the list is long and capable of who is in the process of buying such a large asset.

Those entities need a US mx base since freight cabatog is already allowed thanks to your friendly Alaskan Senator Ted Stevens.

United, why don't we ever hear from their pilots on this board? It is amazing this airline is still doing as well as it has given a management team that has outsourced their own responsibilities to McKinsey & Co., while carrying as much of the employees' cash to the bank as they can.

Now the "deal" to cash out completely. Reward yourself for failure and giving up.

I like Boyd's reference to a Lexus. Sure it is worth more sold in parts, but when finished, you have to walk home.

Boyd has got this one right. UAL knows it will get more money over time piecing itself out slowly one assets at a time.

I do expect the big fireworks to happen after only a shell exists.

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Northwest Airlines Corp.'s chief executive said Monday the carrier's top brass were reviewing its frequent flier plan for a spin-off, and shrugged off the notion such transactions would have to wait for big airline mergers.

WorldPerks program from the parent company "has the potential for significant value creation," said Northwest CEO Doug Steenland in an conference call to discuss the carrier's third-quarter earnings.
"I think those plans can be looked at independent of consolidation," he said in answer to a question.

The Country of Yemen just let go from prison the guy who bombed the USS Cole. I just don't see our Gov't allowing them, or their flag carrier Yemenia, to buy United's Mx facility in SFO. Nah. You can scratch that one off of the list.
