Any viewpoints on this new one. Is this a violation of our contract. Also per the latest bid award there are about 10 more reserve lines awarded.

IF... and I mean IF this pans out the way it is supposed to, it will help the line holders alot. The theory is line holders will have more flexibility to swap trips horizontally, instead of just vertically (same day vs. not same day). In english; I tried to swap a 4 day that started on a Wednesday, for a 4 day that started on a Friday. The Friday trip was back side commutable, and the Wednesday trip was not. I kept getting declined on FLICA in Open Time due to a "MIN RESERVE COVERAGE" message. Well thats frustating now isn't it? Alot of times these changes seem good, but they are just an "end around" to bypass some reserve clause in the contract. I get that. I also know that reserves at AirTran earn their "extra" credit as scheduling's whipping boys/gals, and the swap/drop made it more tolerable. If there are more reserve lines than last bid I will say its been a long time coming. I had six days off in row (737 CA) and this is the first time in 7 months scheduling hasn't called me to pick up flying. We will see if NOV open time is more flexible than OCT, and then we will have our answer.

well a system which lets reserves drop to a point and have a buffer left for line holders makes sense. To just change it one day kinds sux. I understand the concerns of the line holder but i think reserves should be able to drop if there is sufficient coverage. 10 days off hard is pretty bad. especially for the commuter.

'Fish,
The "policy" was affective 10 October (also msg in Flica) . . . if you dropped before then, it wasn't in effect. If after, you should have played the lottery ;-)

Where did you get this? I dropped 2 days this month.

Yeah, I dropped a day earlier this month too, but no more. There's a new memo posted on Flica about the change in policy. I hear that the decision was made by Floy.

This thread, and others like it need to be moved over to airtranpilots.org to debate the nuances of these things amongst people that know the details, or will at least be able to make them up in a convincing manner.

We don't need to be airing ALL of our dirty laundry over here . . . we can do that behind semi-closed doors . . . . speaking of "semi's", check out my new profile . . . . I DID find that matchbook with the truckdriving school on it, Mav!
