We go there every day. It's a fuel stop halfway between Hong kong and Anchorage.

Sounds like a lot of real cool places for the Kalitta guys! Any other point in Russia you visit? Do you do a crew swap in Khabarovsk?

Starting as a JAL aircraft, it may take another year of hard use to bring it down to Kalitta standards!

Heard you guys go out there every so often, what in earth do you take in/out of there?!?!

Kalitta 74 @ UHHH

That is one of our newest airplanes this year. It was definately cool to fly that one around and show it off. For the most part, our "Ride-on" mechanics do a very good job of keeping the airplanes flying. They normally do not sit for very long, so these guys bust their a&% turning them around in a two hour tech stop.

UHHH is just a fuel stop.....no scheduled layover. We have had crews breakdown there and they said it was a fun stay!

Actually, there is this great bar there, where crews drink for free.

I was in UHHH about 10 hours ago. Man what a beautiful day. There wasn't a cloud in the sky and it was somewhat warm! It would have been a great day to 'break' in UHHH. :)

NOthing but trouble in KHV.....my wife was born there !! :) If it's still there the B52 club is a good time....it's right in the main square downtown.

I had no Idea you would have to make a TECH stop on that leg.

vhhh-panc is too long for a -200 747, unless you have ~100K of freight onboard. If you only have 100K of crap leaving Hong Kong, someone made an oops.

We use rjgg or rjcc as stops.

Clear for takeoff Conya.....good luck.

Cool....sounds more interesting anyway than
stopping for fuel in Oklahoma City on the way
from El Paso to Detroit. I'm jealous, Kalitta guys :)

Side note on Kalitta, airlinepilotcentral says they are looking for 4000TT, is this accurate? I couldn't find anything on their website about pilot employment.

1500TT is the mins per the contract, not 4000. There are several people who have been hired with less, myself included.

They haven't done that in a while. It is pretty much 4000 to go right into the right seat. But, it doesn't hurt to apply. Every now and then there is a "sh$# hot" 1500 hour Chuck Yeager future 747 pilot that walks through the door!

I have beent told that since the new pay rates came out, they have been seeing resumes with higher time and more experience.

Training pay/length

I read that pay during training is $600/week. So, typically how long from start date to IOE completion? Has Kalitta started paying for hotels during training?

Ground school 5 weeks, SIM's 3 weeks. They usually split the class up, half go right to SIM's after GS, the other half wait 3 weeks. IOE depends on the student, some get it done in about 40 hours or so, some a bit longer. Contract says you pay for hotel while in training. At one time they were picking up the hotel during SIM's, not sure about now.

Yes, hotel paid for during sim!
about 4 of us finished our IOE this month on the same day, that was about 3.5 months start to finish of IOE.

good luck!
