Class just started 1:40 minutes ago. Relax, take a breath, it will be posted in the afternoon. People are not that fast.

There should be. That is where they are sending most of the people. They are holding people on the 88 and 73 until after the new year so that they can make up the short fall on the wide bodies. This will allow them to be adequately staffed come next spring for the bump in the spring schedule.

I hear they are still short on international 767 out of wonderful JFK. Can anyone say Moscow or Bucharest in the winter???? Although Nice, France and Barcelona would be fun.

I am sure that there will be a bunch of new hires on the 767 in the coming months. The guys and gals that were hired in the first few classes this year will probably hold lines on it sometime next spring or early summer.

You can, but by all accounts; you incur a 24 month seat lock. Ideally for QOL it would be nice to have an even mix of NG's and 88's...looks like it may not happen in this or the next class though.

I guess we'll all see. I'm in the Oct 1 class and am interested to see what the mix is for sure.

I hope you're right but I'll believe it when I see it.

I think you're a little optimistic. The next couple of bids will see more of the current 73N and M88 pilots bidding up to the 767 and 7ER as regular line holders. The current pilots are not bidding it cause they don't want to be on reserve. Once there are enough new hires to fill out the reserve numbers, you will see people starting to bid the 76 and ER.

Further, I think you will see some of the new hires who already got the 767 give up and bid back to the 73N or 88 to get some quality of life.

I hope you are right though. If the current new hires on the 767 and ER move up to line holders in a few months, it will be because hiring has continued at a solid pace and new airplanes are coming. That's good for all of us!

good stuff

Sep 17th initial bid breakdown:

3 x 767ER JFK
12 x 76/75 ATL
3 x 73N NYC
2 x MD88 NYC
1 x 73N SLC

Did all of you guys have an internal recommendation? What's the trick to get selected for an interview??

And your point........?
There were only suppose to be 21 in this class. If I remember correctly there are only 21 or 22 in the next class.

I wasn't making a point.............? I was making an observation since some people have been posting 31 to 35 people per class through October.

If I get out of the looney-bin, my last 4 is low so what were the last 5 choices (if you remember).
Thanks...

While you guys bitch about the NY crew base, one would probably hold a line within 2-3 months. Looking much further down the line for a new hire, one'd make Captain on the Mad Dog in NY about 2-3 years earlier than ATL. Junior awarded Captain in NY is November 1999; ATL is 96/97 ish.

Now you are officially on crack. This is how this is going to work. PBS sucks for the junior guy and reserve sucks period. Most of us that have been here more than a couple of months are just waiting with bid qualifiers (30% in category) to move to larger equipment. Do you think all of us with 00/01 dates of hire like the Mad Dog? No way pal we just hate reserve more. So you might, and quite probably will, get wide body flying as a new hire, but don't be disappointed if every time you think that you are going to get a line someone senior moves into category.

What equipment is at LAX? I know things are skewed from not hiring for half a decade, but how jr is the west coast base?

That is why in Nov I'm going to bid the Maddog out of SLC instead of the coummute to JKF. Reserve in SLC has to be better than being an ART back at base X.

I'll let you know!
