Once (if, when, whatevah) 65 passes, the only movement on the seniority list, including out of the pool, will be from growth. There are still a lot of net growth airplanes coming in 2008, I can't imagine the pool not being emptied by sometime in 08.

I think Fr8 was right. Just look at the Morris acquisiton, they were pay protected but they were also stapled. One look at the SWA seniority list for 01 Jan 04 would tell you that. SWA is a good company that tries to do well by everyone but if it is an acquisition they will take care of their own first. No arrogance intended, just an objective opinion... Cheers, klr

Does SWA have any confirmed aircraft coming after '08. Also does the 19 planes coming next year equal 190 more pilots or is the plane to pilot ratio higher? Thanks.

It is like 10.5 Pilots per plane but the number depends on if it is for growth or replacement planes. There are some planes scheduled for retirement and some for growth. At the end of 2008 SWA will have 539 planes currently they have 508. So that means 31 planes for growth in the next 15 months. It works out to 325 pilots with over 400 people in the pool after Sept DB. People who get selected at the Sept DB should start next year this time with interviews starting next summer.

Thanks for the feedback. I just took a look at their 2006 annual report and it shows 18 confirmed orders for '09 with 18 options. Hopefully more for growth then replacements. About to officialy get in the pool in the next few weeks and like other poolies trying to figure out how long the swim might be.

I saw this info posted in the crew lounge today. There will be an upgrade class of 20 starting Feb 4th and a new hire class of 16 on Feb 13th. Also SWA will only grow by 6 aircraft in 2008 as they will be retireing 21 aircraft.

First I've heard of a 4 Feb class. PD has nothing on that class, but has confirmed 13 for the 13 Feb class.

Are you sure it wasn't 4 Mar?
