Has anyone heard of a runway incursion in ATL recently, as in the past 2 weeks? The rumor I heard was of a 757 crossing 9L while a 737 was on Takeoff roll, resulting in a high speed abort.

I have been unable to verify the rumor. Any info would be appreciated.

aug 18th i think. tower said, "citrus 123, cancel takeoff clearance if it's not too late." I think a 767 rolled past the hold short and stopped too late.

About 2 weeks ago this sunday there was a man in the threshold of runway 10 as aircraft were landing.
The first was an acey that reported a near (within 10 feet) miss with a man without a shirt standing on runway 10. The tower snidly warned the next plane a Delta flight to land at there own risk. On roll out ask them if they saw anything and they reported nothing. The next aircraft was a Citrus and was warned and in the flare said they saw him pass under their wing. Tower finally believed that there was someone out there and sent the cops to pick him up. They found him shirtless wondering around the approach end of runway 10 just as the original aircraft claimed!!!
Cracked head or death wish......not sure which one!!

The police have confirmed it was a drunken Billy Bob Thornton trying to reenact his famous scene from 'Pushing Tin'

I was right there when it happened. A Delta 67 had his nose way over the hold short line. I'm guessing 15-20 ft from the edge of the runway. Tower told them of the incursion and they admitted to it. Then he gave the dreaded number to call. It also seemed to take a hell of a long time for the trucks to respond considering the 37 had some smoldering brakes.

Wow, didn't Delta so something like this in FLL?

Quickly, someone pull up the ATC audio file. Then post it here and make some snide remarks.

Delta didn't do anything in FLL, except avoid a crash when a United 737 missed a turn and entered runway 9L at TWY D.....they stopped on the runway when the tower instructed them to do so......

The Delta crew went around.......after the mains were on the ground.....

The ATL incident was a Delta jet put the nose just a foot over the hold short line which set off the alarms in the tower and Critter had to abort as instructed by the controller....

Both incidents, human error........

Looks like "Instructor Dude" hooked another one. You should read who the post was from before you get your blood pressure up defending Mother Delta.

You had to put your silly little "Critter" remark did'nt you? Boy you guys are pathetic.

My bad.....I'm sorry the "silly Critter" thing gnaws at you.....it wasn't meant as a dig....

But since you seem so sensitive about it, maybe we ought to paint our employees busses with cool catchy slogans like "Wave at our friendly crewmembers and they won't hide when you point out the fact that they just changed their airline's name because of a crash".........

Just a slip......Lighten up.....I was flying around the ATL when it WAS critter......in all honesty, I liked the callsign AND the cartoonjet paintjob.....maybe it's a past you want to forget.....for that, I cannot apologize

You are right about Instructor, I should have looked though.......No defense Kharma of Mother D.....everytime I post, you take it like I give a $hit about where I work.....

You and I have different expectations of our employers. I work at Delta because it pays my bills. I don't care if they paint the planes green or pink or whether or not they change CEO's or go into bankruptcy......All I care about is getting paid. I sign in for my trip, go home and then look on the 15'th and the 30'th for my paycheck.....That's it!!!

I make no apologies for being a Delta pilot, and neither should you for being an Airtran guy. I work at a company that pays my bills.....period!!

Keep on pointing fingers at the Delta guys, It'll make your place on this forum so much more relevant.....

No I'm not at all sensitive about the airline's history. It's just a lot of you Delta types like to use the "Critter or ValuJet" as a sort of insult. It gets old, that's all. They had a crash and in order to save the company they bought another airline and assumed the name.
That was ten years ago before my time.
After all, lots of airlines have crashed airplanes, have'nt they?
By the way, what paint scheme are you guys using this week?

I have always liked and admired Delta. If you don't care where work, then why defend your employer or attack mine?

The "Critter" thing is usually used as a dig.

Delta guys wouldn't like it too much if we started referring to them as "Wind-check" . . . . . which I believe came about from the DFW microburst crash.

"Yeah, we've got ol' Wind-check in sight" . . . . :smash:

Before any of you guys jump in here, there's also "Herb's Turds", "Sky Nazis", "Yo 'Nited", Sh_ttaco . . . . something to p!ss off everyone.

Cheers, Big Ears

Again, you guys are right.....I was wrong.....No dig intended...I never use it on the radio nor do I condone the use......

Feel free to use wind-check, once again I could care less....

Good one Brit.....not too original though....you should spend more time working up with an answer when your family asks why you don't apply to a big Airline like Southwest, Delta or American......

Maybe he doesn't want to take a pay cut? It's just a paycheck anyway, right?

p.s. I like the new paint job, very clean and classy; but the original livery is still my favorite.

Kharma, I didn't attack your airline....nor do I defend mine.....my "attack" was using your old call-sign, that is your history......I said I liked it better than Citrus, but I digress....

My comment about the name changing was in reference AGAIN to the history of your airline, it was re-branded after a crash, not opinion, that was a fact.

You Citrus folks get WAYYYYY too sensitive when the name changing game was brought up. That crash could have happened to anyone, and everybody knows it. Changing the name was a successful way of rebranding, plain and simple.....good business..... When the "WHY" is explained, it immediately becomes off-limits?!?!?

So pretending that you are a new airline is deceiving....the proof lies when NP and his scab buddies didn't have to interview for the "new" Airtran......

I have lots of kudos for you guys and tell friends to check your website often.....spinning me a hater is not what I'm about....

Funny how you try to excuse Delta crew's possible mistake (we don't know yet, it's still being investigated) by making disparaging comments about the other company involved.

It's Citrus, not Critter, and it's been this way for many, many years. Your hate toward one airline discredits you entirely.
I think Delta is a great company and has a topnotch work force. However, the very same can and should be said about AirTran as well. There’s no reason for pilots to be hateful toward their brothers and sisters at other carriers.

I would imagine your remark has to do with the “scab” backgrounds of some of the pilots at AAI – however, you have to remember they are a very tiny minority at that airline and for every month that goes by more and more of them retire. As a matter of fact, I believe you’ll find a much higher number of pilots who’d crossed picket lines in their past careers at Continental, United, or even FedEx and UPS (both in numbers and also percentage wise).

I can not prove this, however that’s what I’ve been told numerous times by pilots that work or used to work for those airlines. Therefore, I think you (or actually all of us), should focus your anger on excessive pay of airline executives rather than blaming all pilots at one good airline for something deplorable a few pilots at that airline did years and years ago… If you want to complain about the scabs in particular, fine – please do so and be specific.

However, by using the call sign “Critter” you insinuated that all AirTran pilots have crossed a picket line in their past and nothing could be further from the truth…That’s just my opinion…

I posted my reply before I saw your explanation:

“…Again, you guys are right.....I was wrong.....No dig intended...I never use it on the radio nor do I condone the use......”

Thanks for doing that and like I said, we should all focus on the greedy executives rather than keep attacking each other…

C'mon man....cut you AND me some slack.....Critter was the old call sign THAT's IT......not an insinuation of your 35 scabs which represent about 2 percent of the good pilot workforce........

calling you guys CRITTER on a forum turns into me yelling "HITLER" at the wailing wall in Jerusalem......Lighten up gang!!!

Apology accepted though.....

My CEO can bankrupt a company quicker than yours can, so NYAHHH NYAHH!!!
