If you had an offer from both, which would you chose and why? Want to stay west coast only as far as bases go. Just curious for some opinions to add to my research. Thanks

If you want to stay west coast, and socal especially, I'd go with Express Jet. SkyWest seems to be moving toward midwest and the right coast lately.

Seems like both places have options to get you on the West relatively quickly, have good pilot groups, and treat you well for a regional. Go with whoever hires you first.

Whats wrong with the east coast and the midwest? Let me guess you must be one of those Califorina boys from San Fran?????? Tough guys you are!!!!!

I'm with OO and like it a lot...great company, great people, quick upgrades, and reasonable QOL for a regional. As far as west coast bases... FAT, SFO, LAX, SBP, SAN, PDX, PSP, SBA, SMF....take your pick. If it's the left coast you want, the choice is easy. Keep in mind the juinior RJ domiciles are MKE and ORD, so do yourself a favor and fly the Bro.

Thanks for your help...I got assigned the CRJ. I'm hoping to avoid MKE/ORD as I live in Boise right now. I eventually want to move back to Las Vegas though. Hoping I can get something in CA if SLC and DEN don't work out right away. ORD would probably be doable, but MKE...YIKES, that would suck. Looking forward to getting back into a scheduled carrier though. Any thoughts on jet bases possibilities...aside from MKE/ORD? Thanks!

Things at SKW are slowing. I wouldn't except SLC or DEN for 6+ months.

The guys interviewing were saying that things were still picking up, not slowing...even that SLC was coming down. Granted this may not be the case, just thought I'd mention it. Hopefully I can get something in CA then...maybe FAT or SMF or something. Thanks

SLC coming down????

I heared today in ground school that we were canceling upgrade classes in the up coming months.

If you want a negotiating committee that can get you $30 million in retro pay, go to Expressjet. If you want a negotiating committee that can get you $0.00 in retro pay, go to SkyWest.

mmm......he has already chosen to go SKW boys. So lets drop it. No reason to start one of those my airline is better than yours. Makes everyone look like tools.

How often does one get ready/airport reserve? Is it only in the big bases or all of them?
I've been on reserve in SLC for 3 months, not bad cause I'll still credit over 100 a month, but if u commute, kinda sucks. ORD is short 20 FO's. Best of luck

Actually I think he's with SkyWest, so it's more of a Your airline is better than mine!

Ok, so it kinda sounds like I'll get ORD (least you didn't say MKE) over any of my CA choices. Since I'll be commuting do you think that I could at least hold a line somewhat quickly so I'm not sitting around at a hotel/crash pad when I'm there? That would definately make it more bearable till I could get back out this way. Thanks for all your inputs.

Are they really cancelling upgrade classes for Oct? I talked with the woman in charge and she said she is awarding the first class in Oct next week. this would be a bummer because I was gonna be in that class. oh well

Maybe, if they are cancelling upgrade classes, it is due to a lack of FO's to take the upgrading FO's place.

How long have you been an FO before getting the CA award?

Well I haven't gotten the award yet. I heard they are still running the Oct 6th class. I've been here 2 years

oct class will be the last one for captains this year. remaining classes will be all FOs until 2008

who is your source that they are cancelling classes? I know we're getting fat on CA's and very short on FOs...but I just talked to my chief yesterday and he said he had heard nothing of that.

Who said this??? Normally we get emails letting us know stuff like this is happening.

Guess I'm glad I got the September class.

my FO got the word from VA, who awards classes
