Anyone know the details of the Jan 08, May 08 scheduled pay increases in the UAL contract ? Also, when is this concessionary contract up for negotiation ?

What about reserve at UAL ? Is there a long call reserve ?

Thanks

Oreo,
The contract is up for renegotiation in 2009. I read on a UAL ALPA forum that we have had 18 of the last 22 years in a concessionary contract (FWIW). The yearly raises are a pittance. There is a short / long call of 4 hrs and I think 12 hrs (been awhile since I was active on the property).
Biff

Current contract til 12/09...

1% raises. This year pilot group voted to apply it to the C plan. B and C plan now total 16%.

Reserve long/short call (13/4 hours).

The current contract runs until December 31, 2009. So I would call it late 2010, if your lucky, for any kind of pay raise or work rule improvements. The pay rate increases are ONE percent each or three precent till the end of the contract.

Returned in Feb of '06 for the bond money. Quit in March of '07.

Oh, yea. If you call in sick be sure to bring that Doctors note!

United management is looking more and more like MESA everyday.....

Can you be on long call status (13 hrs) and then get changed to short call or can you just remain on long call ?

Reserve is "long call/short call" everyone starts out on long (13 hrs) and can be moved to short (4 hours) for 15 hours with 13 hours notice. Short call is an assignment, if you don't get used, you go back to the bottom of the list. Open trips are assigned 24 hours in advance. You can see and/or pick open trips and see where you are on the list on your computer or a call in phone system.

Are there a lot of "day trips" that are out of ORD? I figure if there are, the senior guys take it. But if so, do a lot end up in the open file from the guys that don't want to be home with their wifes?

The only day trips that end up in open flying are the one day trips that pay only a few hours.

Negotiations will start 6 months prior to the DEC '09 ammendable date. The raises between now and then are a pittance- 1.5% per year I think. If we have as many pilots in '09 willing to "help" the company as we do now, I have low expectations for a timely renegotiation.

I hope all these crazy psych. tests UAL management is putting applicants through aren't screening for "company men" unwilling to rock the boat when it's our turn in the hopper come DEC 2009.
