Just booked 2 tickets for the wife and I. We need to get from Chicago to Des Moines on or around Aug 15. Get this, UA and AA, their cheapest fares...$1426 for 2 tix. We can get to Sydney for less!!
So, I bought 2 tix on WN to OMA for $338, rent a car for $19 a day and drive the 2 hours to DSM.
I'm just in shock at what the disparity is.

Less service into a smaller city = higher fares.

It's always worked this way...

Much smarter plan you got there; don't blame you one bit.

Anybody believe that with a disparity like that UAL and AAL aren't making money hand over fist on their coach fares (assuming coach b/c you went with SWA)?

I wonder where they are gonna try to hide all that cash.

Or they'll probably just do the old Jedi mind trick and say "We only make money on our business/first class fares. We must keep labor costs under control."
